Please revert Mount Cross-hotbar behavior or give option to modify it

I've been having troubles with the Mount Cross-hotbar automatically activating while in gamepad mode. I normally have a dedicated icon on my normal and secondary hotbars (all of them) for a given mount, and I use the same icon for dismounting. However, the Mount cross-hotbar overwrites the primary bar both primary and secondary bars, so I no longer have easy access to my regular dismount icon. I've also found that while the mount cross-hotbar has no mount/dismount icon itself, it also can't be modified to have one added or even de-activated so that I can go back to my normal usage.

It was fine before when it was just the secondary bar and the abilities on it could be activated while holding down the triggers. It was fine before when quests/dungeons activated it as part of using certain object/mounts (Castrum Meridianum, Praetorium, and Stone Vigil HM as examples). Why did the behavior for gamepad have to change when it was working fine before? If there is a good reason, then why is there no option to revert back to the previous method for me and other like me that don't want this change?

EDIT: Another problem I just found is that even when I manually change my hotbar it changes back to the mount hotbar every time I change zones while on the mount. It's just too much! I have stuff on a regular hotbar that I regularly use while mounted, but even that hotbar gets overwritten.

EDIT2: Seems I was a little overzealous and on my secondary hotbar when I was checking it initially. When I'm on my primary hotbar, the secondary is still available, but it's still a pain to use.
