Honestly this might be worth a dedicated post, sounds like a real issue. Thanks Lori and Brian, I totally forgot there was a gamepad shortcut to dismount. (I recently switched from KB).
On a sidenote, it seems you cannot disable the mount skills hotbar, such as like you can with the pet bar. It switches to a crossbar that is separated from the R1 button so tring to tap/hold R1 doesnt work.
But if a dev reads this, it could be handy to still see your original cross bar, whilst mounted. If you really wanted to use a "vanity" skill, you can just press it on your mount/pet skills bar. It seems a waste to have it in the mount skills bar AND it overwriting every skill you have in your cross bar.
I am at work at the moment, but I can tell you that there should be a way to change what you are describing. When I mount something that has special abilities (on PS4 btw), my pet hotbar comes up and I have to use my trackpad to initiate any of the mount's abilities.
Unless 2.5 changed this? I haven't used any mount except Enbarr in a long time.... and I could have sworn the pet hotbar coming up while mounted was default, but I could have changed it and not remembered![]()
Because I am exceptionally at bad at explaining things, and some cant use the mount to test, I will illustrate:
This is my crossbar while I am mounted, and you are unable to add any other skills/macros to unmount ect.
The top horizontal bar is the pet/mount bar.
I was dumb in my previous post and R1 does infact swap back to your original cross bar, but why FORCE your cross bar to be wiped, for the sake of 1 rarely used skill? Pressing R1 to get back to view your crossbar, then pressing your custom mount/unmount button is just cumbersome for the amount of times you have to mount.
Lori and Brian have helped by informing me of L3 to unmount, but this could still be a small quality of life issue. I (and assume others) are super used to pressing the same custom allocated button on my pad to mount/unmount. If you are already inclined to use the L3 to unmount, this wont be an issue.
This is the first mount I have used with skills (not touched the story mount and quest for that one), so I am unsure if this is normal, but its annoying if so![]()

It's not ADS, it's a Logistics System. Stay jelly if you don't want to work for it.
