this is what is really cool about 24 man games, melee really gets to open up and run wild and it almost feels balanced.Yesterday I was in 8v8v8 bracket and dragoon had more kills than everybody else and more damage than everybody else. He just died once because of melee limit. I played healer in that time and he/she was pretty well in range always so it was pretty easy keep him/her alive.
By balanced you mean melee players no longer have any threat and go around interrupting the casters and killing them easily.
Notice that Sunako said the Dragoon stayed within healing range the whole time. A lot of melee players in Slaughter would have much better numbers if they did this.

??? you don't need an alliance of black mages to kill a single melee, kill them just the same no matter how many people are around you. all that 24 man means is that they get to spread out more due to no central boss nodes with drones spread out across the middle. it's easier for them to escape as well because there's not an alliance of blms all trying to kill one marked melee.
which is why 24 man is a completely different game than 72. but that's a different thread altogether.
In small groups, melee don't have to retreat when they're being focused. There is no way ranged can burst them down with the amount of interrupts they have to deal with. So melee have little to no threat. You said yourself that you get to "run around wild".
Remember Secure? The melees swarm the casters until one of the team's casters/healers are dead. Then whoever has the last healer standing wins.

Yes they do. The threat is quite considerable actually.
Uh, what are you rolling? One caster and 0-1 healer?
It's an expression that means they don't have to worry about a column of 10+ back-liners instagibbing them.
We have different experiences of Secure. For my team, stacking either melee or ranged has never been optimal for us. Ever.
Well stop whatever it was you were doing in the small instance and go kill the caster. They are the ones that either have to run away from you or cast pathetic instants on you when focused.
It is just absurd to come on here and claim melee does anything but dominate small Slaughters and Secure. In the larger Slaughter casters have enough space to actually cast so you can't run around wild. You have to retreat when being focused. EVERYONE stacked melee in Secure. There was no point in playing BLM unless you were happy doing CC exclusively. You saw about one in a 24 person raid and summoners were almost non-existent.
EVERYONE needs help when being focused lol. No one's gonna target your casters if you have a sufficient number of healers. And if they are, then who cares, the caster is doing a good service keeping your backbone alive.
Really now, I have a ton of scoreboard screens of Secure showing our BLM topping on damage. It's even scarier when he gets paired with our SMN. Hold whatever opinion you want on the matter, just know that your opinion is based on the bads.
