New to FFXIV but not to the genre!

Hello all, I've just started playing over the past few days and have a skill12 pugilist. I'm clueless as to where to go and what to do, done all the available levequests I know of in Ul'dah.

Not sure how the guilds work at all here either, don't know what I want from one! so as you can tell I'm at loss as to everything though I am enjoying myself.

And welcome to a confusing, convoluted mess. =D

The first thing I'd recommend is looking through the tutorials on the lodestone site. Since You are already rank 12, you may have already looked through it or some of the information may be a bit redundant, but there might be some good info in there as well. (macros, aetheryte interaction, etc.)

Second, I'd try to find a linkshell. Or atleast a person on besaid who can walk you through some things. Seeing as this post is on the besaid server forum hopefully someone will volunteer to show you around. =)

Good luck. And have some patience. Some of the features of the game may seem awkward or frustrating, but chances are SE already knows about them and has plans to fix them soon.

You do leves every reset to level up you can also look at the post someone made on here for soloing or the party one. Finding a linkshell most be your to do list you get bored quick without friends. When you get 25+ you can do dungeons and 35+ you can do some med range NM with help of others to get some gear for your pug.

Ohhh that'd explain the noquests, bit different. That have anything to do with the warning when you first load up about keeping a social life hah.

What do people find themselves doing while they can't do quests then? focus on crafting? it looks like alot of work for so little when I've found I can just buy very high level gear instead of low level gear for less gold!
