    Crit (SCH)

Yeah yeah back again with more SCH questions Woo! This time its about Crit and Gear

I need help gearing (yes even experienced raiders need help time to time)

I'm at a crossroad on what gear to wear.

    *everything listed with a '' \ '' is what I'm at a crossroad with

    Dreadwyrm Hood of Healing\Ironworks Optics
    Melded Mage Coat
    Melded Healing Gloves
    DreadWyrm Tonban
    DreadWyrm Belt\ Iron Works Belt
    Augmented Iron Works Boots

HA Neck \ Melded i90 Neck with +12 Crit
    HA Ears
    Augmented Ironworks Braclet
    Ironworks Ring Of Healing
    Judgement Healing Ring

This is My current set up

With my current set up I push max 549 crit without food. If I switch to my alt set up I will be 584 crit without food. My question is do I go from 630 MND down to 612 for a +36 crit ?

SCHs main secondary stat is crit but when do you start measuring it against MND ? I've tested both and I feel like I crit just as much with 549 as 584 ...is there a crit cap ? The main thing I've noticed is with my original set up of 630 MND my Crits can scale with Aldo up to 2400+ which is insane, but my conscious is telling me that I'd crit more often with my other set up

My healing potency is obviously different as my average heal has jumped from 1300+ to almost 1450+

Now all this will be quelled once I get twine and what not for my ironworks upgrade but until then I want to know what other fellow SCHs set ups are and how do you measure MND vs Crit. What's your experiences as far as Crit #s ...post your gear and out come/ recommendations etc. Just want some insight on it

Crit alone is not that great if you have to sacrifice a lot of MND for it, but if you can doubledip accuracy while getting crit up anyway, then it is pretty optimal. Of course, if you have items where you'll have the same amount of MND on both of them while one of them has crit and the other doesn't have crit - then go for the one with crit.

My own BiS varies per encounter, but for non-FCoB (ie. fights with no accuracy boosting needed) it's mostly max MND with max crit (accuracy ramped up as needed). For FCoB, my food-adjusted BiS per turn is as follows:

    http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/PAGB - T10 SCH, food-adjusted (470 accuracy, 681 crit, 631 MND without party buffs).
    http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/PAGE - T11 SCH, food-adjusted (485 accuracy, 685 crit, 626 MND without party buffs).
    http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/PAG4 - T12/13 SCH, food-adjusted (515 accuracy, 673 crit, 621 MND without party buffs).

Each turn is adjusted so that I suffer minimal MND losses while having the absolute maximum crit, plenty of MND and VIT for whatever turn. Note: Demon Skirt of Healing and Dreadwyrm Tonban of Healing are more or less interchangeable if you don't need the VIT/mdef/PIE from the Tonban, but I just played around with the sets. (Demon Skirt of Healing is 5 MND less than the DW Tonban, but has 22 DET on it, meaning they more or less cancel eachother out, depending on whether DET weighs at 4 or 5 per 1 MND. It should be closer to 4 now as even with i110 gears, it seemed to weigh closer to 5 per. I will test around later though, not that much crit difference on the two anyway).

Note: these setups might change if the last upgrade of the relic goes up to i135 and if I find it worthwhile/easy enough to do just before the expansion hits (and it becoming pretty much irrelevant then). Up until then I am gonna get my accuracy elsewhere and will honestly be lazy with my relic. (Got my HA book before Novuses were a thing and could never bother with it, then Nexus came and I was still good with mah book seeing as we got the new books at i130/135. Now that the relic quest is nerfed up to Nexus, I might go for it on my downtime).

[QUOTE=Tranquil;2720836 My own acc-capped BiS is 641 crit without food with some MND sacrificing from the accuracy bumping, but it's nothing too major.[/QUOTE]

    Gear layout please.

And yes this is just my layout until I'm able to upgrade BiS Ironworks which should be like 1 or 2 weeks (Hunts ugh)
I just don't want to get rid of the SCH core, but I see it's actually an upgrade over my recent setup largely due to the higher healing across the board
banking on a crit every now and then for my aldo too

You are farther along in gear progression than I but I've almost always prioritized mind over crit substantially. Overall throughput from mind is just more reliable for healing. Losing like 2 mind for 36 crit... Sure but not 18. That's a sizable chunk of consistent healing lost.

I'm in almost the same position as you with gear. I use an i90 crafted ring and choker for T13 so I do take an ilvl loss there. Wear any i130 pieces to the left side for the VIT gain, especially T13. The other encounters I drop mind in favor of accuracy because my group's current strat requires me to dps. (I have pentamelded crafted helm.)

I really don't want to do hunts, but I think I'm going to have to suck it up.
