need luck to get more than 1 or 2 per attempt though but yep no new stats needed that I noticed, not that I bothered looking at the stats I'm afraid.

As for coordinates just stay in general area or look for others and watch your minimap for the node icon to glow. There are several spots they can show up in each area but you'll figure it out as you go.
Is the Forager set needed, ti gather HQ log and ore, or the supra is enough?

I'm doing fine with the Supra although I do have the hQ foragers off hand, penta melded with perception. You don't need the whole set, just get the off hand and meld that up. Best bang for you buck. Would be a waste to do change out to the other gear unless your gearing for the first time.....
This is what I use for my miner rotation but everyone has their own and I just use the equivalent actions for Botany. I use gp food like beef stew which gives me enough for this rotation. It's a risk if you fail a swing cause you won't get the 100% hq at the end but it works out well for me. Just make sure your gp is full before you target the node.
I hit the spot for the specific item then use sharp vision 5, unearth 2 - 300, solid reason - 300 - grants another gath. attempt, deep vigor - hq to 100% after a chain 4. I don't have any new forager's gear yet except the hat and still have forager's main tools..working on supra then lucis. Pretty much fully melded though minus some hidden gp slots.
I recommend getting your base gathering rate to 85%, 100GP to get 100%, 100 GP for 10% HQ, and you can spend 300 GP to either reach all items, or for a +1 gathering attempt, both work out the same. So for 500 GP you get the guarenteed HQ at the end, + extra 10% HQ on the first 5, and no chance of failure. Alot of people also like to go +30% HQ for 300 GP, but then you're relying on RNG and may go completely without any HQ on some cycles, but both methods work out to about the same yield in the long run. Now if only we could reach 700 GP, a whole new world of amazing possibilities that would be....
yeah its true you can go without a hq on the toil and kings yield 2 root.
but in general you will get 2hq from my experience and not just at this node,
another option is to hit the slot then use kings yield 1 unearth and sharp vision 2 for 600gp. if you get lucky you'll get 2 hq from one strike. I did this on my first attempt for hq and got 4, but haven't tried it since. best thing about this is if your on 85% gather rate then the sharp vision 2 will boost it to 100%
