It's not like doing CT raids is hard, it's easy compared to what you have to do to get to 4star crafting.

Ultros has a Great Imbalance of crafters on it. Only very few players can craft high end stuff. The prices keep other crafters out in the cold. Maybe this patch will clear some things up. Still looking to buy some Artisan gear but the prices are going to have to come WAY down with me on my 3rd Zodiac weapon.
Whining about doing CT for pieces? Really? It's super easy and basically everyone out gears the crap out of it.

Crafting and raiding/dungeons have never been strangers to each other in any genre of game. Often, the best crafted gear will require said person to do the needed combat scene (if not someone else, and the crafter just buys the needed goods). Why this would be unusual to anyone is beyond me. Heck, even games like SWG involved such a concept, and that was involving playing a dedicated crafter (no mix and matching like this game). There is absolutely nothing about the 110 gear that breaks away from how crafting is in practically every game, in every genre, is designed around, including this one since launch. Maybe a game like Harvest Moon would be more akin, as there's no combat in most of those games.
Wootz Scimitar:
Allagan Catalyst (can be bought on the market boards)
Battlecraft Demimateria III x2
Wootz Ingot x3
Platinum Nugget
Rose Gold Nugget
Platinum Ring of Casting:
Allagan Catalyst
Battlecraft Demimateria III x2
Platinum Ingot x3
Sapphire
Gold Ingot
None of those are goods that you, as a crafter, are required to get on your own in a raid. Every single material can be bought, which is traditionally how dedicated crafters get not-so-readily available mats.

Crafting requiring dungeon drops is fine by my book.
What I think should be changed is that when higher tier recipees are added, synthing lower tier gear should be easier.
Best part about crafting for me was being able to make all the gear I needed for my jobs. Then I reached 50 and it ended. I was fine with 2 star gear requiring melds at launch, but we're at 4 star gear now and while making 2 star gear is easier now, it's still a lot harder in comparison to how getting the latest outdated combat gear is. Basically, crafting and gathering are now a lot less fun than how they used to be.
I just want to comment on the 2 star thing. Since 2.0, getting the original BiS gear (job gear, raptor belt, red coral earring, aeth rings, militia wrist/OH) and melding them was enough to safely macro a 2 star 100% HQ chance synth. I don't even look at my screen when I craft 2 star (including the more difficult crafting turn in items). In fact, I'm still wearing the majority of my 2.0 crafting gear now lol. The only switch out since then was Foragers weapons and the belt (along with individual difference like Supra and Forager OH for LTW). Generally speaking, 3 star and 4 star are the only real difficult ones that you just can't outgear and macro reliably. 2 Star and below are macro friendly once you gear up decently and meld.Crafting requiring dungeon drops is fine by my book.

edit: Exception for 2.0 2 star crafting would be getting an HQ 40/40 good. Nowdays though, you definitely can macro it with ease (just different macros for different situations).
