New gear

Hi all,

I am returning after a few months and I see a lot of new crafting gear - last I was crafting I had a few i90 tools and the fully penta melded i55 stuff.

Looking around online it says there's a new set called Artisans, that needs to be melded with a few materias - thing is speaking with the NPC I can only see for trade artisan cloth with no materia sockets.

Am I looking in the wrong place? What is this gear, a stopgap between crafted i55s and the materia-slotted artisan clothes?

Nope, nevermind, it's crafted 4 star stuff.

Good lord - I need more mastercraft demimateria than ever. Is desynthing artisan specs still the really only real way to go about getting them?

Desynthing tools for masters is the new hotness. They lowered the amount of items you have to turn in and they can drop up to 3 per desynth.

Making spruce plywood and desynthing the tool with bsm is the most cost effective, and gsm coming in second I think.

My desynths are blacksmith and leatherworker at around80 and alc behind that. None of those are worth it so i should level BSM?

BSM and LTW are extremely useful right now, since bsm can easily get master demis and ltw can get fieldcraft 3's from wedding gear at the Uldah vendor.

Battlecraft 3's are where the big bucks are at now with all the new i110 weapons and jewelry using them. They are running 500k a pop on my server. I don't know how much it costs to produce them, but they used to go for 100-150k pre-patch, so you can probably make a nice profit margin if you have a good way to produce them.

I'm a bit confused. I never melded out my AF gear due to being completely intimidated by overmelding. At this point, to help my FC mates (only 1 is an 'endgame' crafter ; ; ), I was thinking about getting the artisan set and melding that. But now I see artisan pattens (rather than sandals) and artisan gown (rather than apron)? Which do I get?

Comparing the crafted artisan's with the Mor Dhona set legs just as an example:

Artisan's Chausses, CP +2 Craftsmanship +4 Control +35

Artisan's Culottes, CP (+3) Craftsmanship +3 (+1) Control +29 (+6)

So its a tossup, use time or use gil. At least on the pants.
