I pretty much suspected Ilberd since 2.4. The guy just feels wrong.

I think that what Midgy stripped was not the Echo, but Hydaelyn's ability to directly intercede (like when she took an Ultima to the face for us). This is evidenced by the fact that we could still understand the Ascian's speech. I'm hoping that Square Enix might take a moment and make it a bit more clear about what was taken from us in Part 2.

I'm on with the theory that dragons will be our allies, or at least Midgy, since we will have a flying dragon mount and all, maybe is actually Midgy with a reform body?? anyone has a screenshot comparation of the mount, minion, boss?, maybe we will help him gain control over dragons, turn it into an alpha lol, How to Train your dragon 2 much?

Ya looking at these two image the minion and flying mount do match each other in design.

So +1 point to Mid being our Ally in 3.0.

Fun speculation about Midgardsormr:

If you read his description he clearly says something among the lines of "He assures you this form is purely temporal". Considering we got him without using an item, it's possible that he'll grow up into our mount.

Also, a bit of data-mine spoilers maybe: The actual Midgardsormr minion item that we never got to use says: "Summon Midgardsormr. Not the big one. The little one.". While this might simply mean that you'll summon the tiny one instead of the giant-Agrius eating dragon, it could also lend itself to saying we'll get a "bigger" version of him soon.
