Now imagine how quickly they die on a full server, and there's your problem. SE didn't take into account the increase in player iLevel, so even S rank mobs are dead about 30 seconds after they're pulled.
It's probably a little more to do with sheer player volume. But the biggest problem is the early pulling. People can use whatever selfish reason they want to justify it, but doing it makes you a jerk, there's no debating that fact away. It's a major problem and I hope SE fixes it.
My suggestion would be to implement something like Ultima Weapon, where A and S ranks would have a massive defense and determination buff for, say 30 secs-2 mins after the initial pull. Some party decides to be selfish and pull early? BAM, their tank, and maybe a few healer/DPS get eaten because there's not enough people to help. Some idiot facepulls? BAM, he dies as he should. All the while, the hits being done during the startup phase counts towards your party's credit.
They did the same thing with Second Coil and I hoped they wouldn't repeat this bland boring crap for Final Coil. Hunts should be for glamour and fluff items (Minions, mounts, ect...) not the best stuff in the game. Absolutely shit design.May be a noob question here but why is this game making everything obtainable from hunts? What's the point of having these hard coils or whatever when you can just obtain everything by easy hunts?. I have yet to even unlock TFCOB (stuck on 2nd coil last turn) but is it that hard the game had to make a way for like the other 99% who can't beat it? This hunt thing seems like a total noob/lazy way of getting the best gear, its very disappointing

Yeah I hope they either can this hunt crap or set tighter cap limits and restrictions. As it stands lets face it nothing is remotely difficult with these hunts whether it be A B S or any other letter they throw at us, when you got like a entire server focused on a boss don't matter if he has a million HP he gonna die lol (Also makes you wonder why people pull early knowing that). I can see and understand that some people for whatever reasons may not be able to do certain content but with the extreme ease at which this loophole allows at least make tighter restrictions lol.
Its 2015 and T9 has been out for like forever now so you ARE technically the other 99%.... yes YOU probably need hunts because apparently your skill is not enough.May be a noob question here but why is this game making everything obtainable from hunts? Oh I just now recently came back from a FF break a few months ago. My skill is just fine maybe you can explain how people still die in titan x due to titan Hm mechanics?
Also lag, poor coordination, lack of practice... you know the usual suspects.
The general "problem" with the hunts revolves around finding a good modicum to keep them fun and relevant without damaging other features of the game or player relations, but IMHO it requires some degree of awareness from the community: on Excalibur, a highly populated server with a longstanding hunting community, there have been renewed efforts towards that after patch 2.5 hit, such as LSs promoting cooperation between parties, singling out early pullers and bots (yes, those are around too, it appears), making public shouts.
I'm under the impression that situation is gradually getting better, also because a good deal of people who were only in for the gear has gotten what they wanted, so they'll presumably move on leaving more room to those who hunt for fun more than for profit. But I'd leave further considerations about the linkshell/FC/channel side of things to those who have a better grasp of the situation, such as Roxinova.
Simply canning the hunts as a feature seems too far-fetched to me. They serve a purpose as open-world content, they can be fun (A marks upwards are a good way to practice party tactics), and they provide an avenue to socialize: more often than not, you'll end up helping others with FATEs, quests and whatnot while en route to a mark. You can make friends and find out good players to party with later on.
The only fundamental problem I see is with those who mistake rushing at new content for effort - but that applies to other features as well. Though that's just my two gils, of course.

It brings me no satisfaction at all to say this, but. . .
. . . I called it.
