I was talking to someone about Parley the other day and they mentioned Triple Triad... that really could be a brilliant replacement/addition to the game - although, it should be adapted to fit into XIV lore-wise. We already have separate inventories for items and crystals, why not cards?

Parley is great, we need more new interfaces and mini games like that and this game will be a winner..
It just need a little tlc..
But why do you disagree? To me, parley is on the same level as "tic tac toe". It's not particularly strategic. Playing a game of solitaire is more mentally stimulating. And since someone mentioned Tetris, first off I'm not sure how this game is like Tetris, and Tetris is somehow more fun than parley (as an avid fan of puzzle games, Tetris is somewhere near the bottom in terms of "fun to play").

No one is saying minigames are bad. I love Mario Party as much as the next person. And I never said to "remove" parley. I said to "REPLACE" it, with something better (which would be almost anything at this point).

If you're making the argument that you'd like to be forced to play tic tac toe several times throughout the course of playing 14, we can simply agree to disagree. However, I'd personally prefer to have FUN minigames. When "playing" parley, I never fear I'm going to lose. I know for a FACT I'm going to win. And it's not because I'm amazing or anything, it's because the game is simplistic and not fun. "You bring up the topic of sunstone-related rumors 3 times!" WOOT! Um, no.

Parley is perhaps the worst possible minigame conceived. I just want them to put something that's more fun it its place.

I wouldn't mind Triple Triad or Tetra Master. Though, I'd go for anything that was fun. Parley is essentially "play the strongest move available", which isn't exactly difficult to identify. You can't even really plan for your opponent's move, because the board will shuffle and add new pieces. So, it's just:

    1) Play strongest move
    2) Hope opponent doesn't play strongest move
    3) Repeat

I like Parley because no matter how strategic you try to be, the game will give the NPC you are facing the exact tiles needed for a ridiculous 50+ point score.

Oh wait, no, that's why I absolutely abhor it. Someone mentioned Tetris, and they at least give you a notification of the next block that will appear, if Parley had something like that, perhaps it wouldn't be totally up to chance and luck.

    I like that idea.
Maybe they could make some tiers for NPCs. If you beat the NPC you get to the next tier and get a 5% discount for buying and a bonus of 5% for selling items. On the next tier you get and additional 5% up to a max of 25% for example.
Or they could offer new wares usually not avaliable in the city.

A Triple Triad or Tetra Master game in the casino in Ul'dah would be nice though ^^

I can handle a couple parleys here and there, but what really sends me into a rage is when i have to do it 3 or more times in one quest, it just feels like busy work. Its pointless it shouldn't be like that.
