I dont' like large scale PvE, because only the elitest of the elite actually get to do it and win; No one has the muster to gather up 40-80 people for a massive battle anymore. Only the biggest no-lifers have time for that kind of thing.

How about if world bosses scale in difficulty based on the number of people participating and you only need 5 to 10 people minimum to get started? How about if said encounter also doesn't require you to invite people into a party and everyone gets credit? How about if there is no dedicated healing or tanking class and any old combination of players will work? And how about being able to help in an encounter without actually needing to engage the boss directly but provide support through other means?
In other words, your statement may apply to FFXI world bosses, but definitely not GW2 world bosses (which is the example being used in the OP).![]()

I don't mind scaling. Behests already do that, so I know they can utilize such a concept. Things like Besieged worked well enough because everyone benefitted win or lose and it wasn't overly stressful or complicated. Campaign on the other hand tried to go too far and it was to difficult to gain accesss to certain content that was controlled by the success or faliure of the server as a whole to take control of certain areas. How about if world bosses scale in difficulty based on the number of people participating and you only need 5 to 10 people minimum to get started? This the kind of antiquated mindset the OP's video is meant to do away with. The whole idea is that no single LS, guild, or in-game organization would be required to muster the numbers to tackle a particular monster. You would have a pool of the entire *SERVER* to pull from. If the server can't muster up 50 people to kill a dragon at various times of day, might as well close up shop because the game has clearly failed. You can tackle the mob solo or in a small group and be rewarded individually for your contribution, so no elitist-only reward there either.

Word. But again, ArenaNet has stated in a recent interview that the world bosses would require 10 or even 5 people minimum and it'd scale from there. Perdy cool, indeed! This the kind of antiquated mindset the OP's video is meant to do away with. I can tell you as a fact that even 40-people-anything won't ever happen on the smaller servers. Why make content we can't even play?

I swear some people have selective reading,

Are you even following the conversation at all? My post had nothing to do with your 5 to 10 suggestion. I'm talking about the 40 to 80 suggestion.
Given that even in XI Eco Warrior quests almost never happen designing content like that for XIV would require a lot more streamlined party formation. Maybe even cross server invites?
If you're going to pick and choose content from XI, then surely you have to consider something like Kirin/Sky or Dynamis where a single LS could field these kinds of numbers AND run into competition from other LS for the same time slots. People showed up for this kind of content because it was worthwhile on its own merits. Are you even following the conversation at all? My post had nothing to do with your 5 to 10 suggestion. You asked earlier why make content no one can experience, but why are you trying to frame this content with the constraints of the current server populations? If you want to grow the game, you have to think big. If this kind of content (and ultimately FFXIV) are good enough, people will play and experience it. If its not good enough the game may fail, but thinking big and going big certainly won't be the reason why.
Also, for the scaling portion as others have mentioned, it could scale based on how many people are currently engaged, or they could use the "Reinforcements" feature they have alluded to more than a few times. Start killing a monster fast enough and maybe it calls in a few friends for backup. Instead of one Great Buffalo maybe you run into a stampede? Kill Fafnir fast enough with enough people and maybe Nidhogg appears?
like someone else already mentioned prior gw2 doesn't create anything like this from events that are in the video, but i'd also like to add ...gathering up of 40-80people...this means weather there are the few that can put them together that ...there is that many people all doing something together as a group. while having to put them together is a chore that mmo's should do away with, i'd rather it be this way then not have large scale linkshell events at all. 8man dungeons are the death of full linkshells if u ask me.
this happened in warhammer as well and it happened in ffxiv, only enough players for like 1 run, most are outed from doing dungeons or are picked up like a pug off the street when ever they are just needed. so the no lifers as u call them are static and the casuals still don't barely do dungeons. if anything they are doing less then if the game would of had full on linkshell large scale battles. granted this is server population problems at it's greatest, but even at fullest capacity most the linkshell is pug'n it or waiting to be fit in once in awhile, while a small group is running them.
if large scale things like the video, or even the type u stated were implemented from the get go, or even instead of that dungeon in 1.18 ...everyone who loged in to check out the patch, would have probably stayed loged in ..instead of trying it once and never logging back in again. at the most they would log in 2-3times a week to hang out with the full linkshell ..have fun prior chit chattin, kill and kick ass for few hours and maybe even start grinding again and staying loged in more often. but that is just my opinion. but again this game "needs" to have stuff like large scale or it will totally fail. if ps3 launches without ...i don't think it will last for a year b4 total shutdown.
