I note 21 million isn't nearly enough for even a single server - yet apparently 35 million is enough for more than half of them.
Square may have well have decided to put them on the North Pole as far as people in aus/nz are concerned.
And seriously, if SE doesn't think this is a market to spend their money, then they shouldn't have their hands out for it either.
Australian servers wouldn't work for FFXIV unfortunately, there aren't enough Oceanic players.

Look, I've been playing MMO's since Ultima and Ragnarok Online... I've seen this discussion on literally every. single. MMORPG. The only game that can justify Australian servers is WoW, simply because they have the huge oceanic playerbase to support it. Games like XIV don't have enough Australian/New Zealand players to fill up a server and have a stable economy and active Party Finder. Look at servers like Behemoth, which is considered the NA Oceanic go-to server.... by 11-12pm NZ time you can see the population decline heavily with only one or two groups in the party finder.
I'm not against the idea of Australian servers, I just strongly believe it won't work.. look what happened to WAR, Aion, RIFT and Wildstar. they gave us "Oceanic" labeled servers and after 6 months they closed them and offered free transfers. Simply because there wasn't enough players.
I would love lower ping, I personally think the servers should be in US West instead of Canada, at least that way we can have 150 ping instead of 300 or whatever it is right now.

That I think is the best solution. It will not only benefit AUS/NZ players, but also a majority of US players, which would be their biggest market.
