Armour and weapons in dungeons of a lower level than the gear

Be careful if you're going into Stone Vigil with the Cavalry set. While it is technically better than the Lv.40 quest gear, it does present one of the pulls as a difficult pull if your healer isn't up to the task (for example a fresh leveling healer who doesn't have all the gear, maybe even wearing level 10 accessories). But other than that, yes Stone Vigil is perfectly doable in the Cavalry set if you dodge what can be dodged and don't pull multiple packs at the same time. If a White Mage tells you that you can't do Stone Vigil in Cavalry, they're not telling the truth. I know because I leveled 2 PLDs and 1 WAR plus 1 WHM through that place and healed a PLD wearing half Lv.30 DPS gear through it with no deaths. Some White Mages just forget conveniently that they can Repose mobs (same effect as Sleep).

If you run into a Scholar with no Black Mages in your party, then...you better hope the Scholar is up to the task. Not that it isn't doable, though. You'd just run into more hairy moments if the Scholar is slacking. :3

Umm... Basically what happened is I forgot to read this thread and rushed into Stone Vigil. Like 10 seconds in, my healer was asking me to put on shield oath, and I was like, I don't have it, at which point I lost 2 team members. I had to try for 2 days after that to get back into that dungeon, even after I had got shield oath. I did all dungeons and main quest to lvl 50 now so it's ok. One really stupid thing I did was kept rushing through all and I forgot to do the job quest so I didn't get the 4 pieces of lvl50 gear I could have got at level 45. Doh! I just did it now. I really want to do final coil of bahamut, but it's so confusing on which way to go about to get to it quickest and have the right gear. Now I'm lvl50 and main quest is done, kinda confused on what to do next, even if I've read lots of guides online.

Ah, I meant to write first coil. I was thinking of first coil. I think there's 1-4. It's just that on party Finder everyone is recruiting for that, so it seems that it's what everyone on my server is doing all the time. Hehe. I know I'm not prepared, but I want to see what it's about. I guess I need to get prepared.
Lol, you should have seen me in Cape Westwind and Castrum Meridianum, just randomly hitting stuff, had no idea what was going on, and didn't even have my lvl50 4 pieces of armour I should have got 5 levels before that. But still was ok, and got 3 player commendations. I think 8-people dungeons are so much better than 4-people dungeons, because I can still be a really bad tank, and the other tank just does the job, while I distractedly just punch stuff and get free heals. my kind of dungeon. I am gonna just do whatever I find, I guess, but I wish there was a clear guide on armour getting. I think I know a quick explanation on how to get to the coils. Just take the quests from the scions. They seem to be leading there. I'll just do that and meanwhile I'll see what armour and weapons I can find. Thanks for your help

If you're planning on trying out Coil, you're going to need to do your relic quest first. While you're also doing that, be sure to unlock Crystal Tower and get as much gear from the later two runs as you can. It's free, while you can only get 1 item per week on the final raid. If any tank gear drops in the first CT, more power to you and be sure to use it until you can replace it.

Keep going with the main story because you can't unlock any of the new roulettes without being mostly caught up.
