So much for those Animus book FATEs not being on a different timer from the rest so nothing could be done about their frequency, huh - something that we've been told at least twice. Nice. Thank you, but nice.

I have not had a chance to test this yet, I hope you are right. The basic problem still remains. FATES were not designed for this and should not have been used. Remember it took Yoshida and his team about 20 months to totally revamp this game from the failure of ver 1.0 while keeping that game playable for half that time. That is not a long time in the world of game development. That is why you see so many aspects of ffxi primarily mobs incorporated into ARR. Technically this game is still in basic development and corners had to be cut to continue to make it viable while they pressed on with the development of ver 3.x. The longevity of the game will be determined by the expansion. If it is new and innovative then it will have a long life. If it is a continuation of 2.x in concept and mechanics then the future is bleak.
Where other games use events like this as an incidental way to engage with the game world, SE thinks it's a good idea to tie it into quest progression. MMOs thrive off time-wasters, sure, but nothing rubs that in like waiting 45 minutes for a FATE to spawn, unable to move or do anything in case it spawns and you miss it.
It was dumb the first time they pulled it, and it's still dumb now.
Variety in music for FATEs would be wonderful. And change the freaking music. After hearing the same one over and over after grinding atma its killing me.Some variety at least. Also it annoys me when someone runs an enemy out and they go invulnerable for what seems like forever. I HAVE HATE ON IT STOP RUNNING. Then again this is from doing atma 3 times in a row, so meh.
Da Twelve is this!?

Oh lord, this update is actually worrisome. Looking at my above post, and the various FATE update's they've made it almost makes me think all they did was reverse what they had updated in the past. They adjusted it so fates would pop more often, now they are changing it back. If that is all they did, it won't fix anything. Simply because originally fates were already popping less frequently, and it made little difference. I could just be experiencing PTSD from all the previous patches that didn't really do anything they were intended to do. Guess we'll find out sooner or later. Anyone check SEPS, or that allagator one out waaay west dragonhead? Those always take like 2 hrs it seems.
Call me crazy, but even though I haven't the time anymore to do so - I rather long for the days of camping a rare spawn for 10-15hrs straight (Everquest). Your reward was great. . . in the virtual world at least :PWhere other games use events like this as an incidental way to engage with the game world, SE thinks it's a good idea to tie it into quest progression. But what about FATES for the daily Hunt Bills? I've had the same face-desking experience waiting for those as I had waiting for book FATES. The hunt-bill FATES are not even worth the time investment, you'd get more allied seals by spending that time hunting for A ranks then waiting 1, 2, or even 3 hours for the hunt FATE to spawn.
Which FATES were reduced and how long is their timer now?
