    Steps to get a mount:

    1. Reach level 20
    2. Progress your main story. After the level 20 trial "The Bowl of Embers", your next story quests will involve you choosing your Grand Company allegiance.
    3. Select one and officially join it, and a quest will appear at your GC's HQ (I believe it's entitled "My First Chocobo"). You'll need to accept that quest.
    4. To purchase the Chocobo Issuance for the quest, you'll need to gather 2000 Grand Company Seals. These can be obtained through GC Leves (try Moraby Drydocks for the first GC levemete), through fulfilling the Grand Company section of your hunting log (Try going to the optional dungeon Halatali for a bunch), or through completing FATEs (higher level FATEs give more seals). Turn the seals in at your HQ for the Issuance, then complete the quest.
    5. After naming your chocobo and completing the quest, your ability to ride all mounts will be unlocked (including your new chocobo, but also any Collector's Edition bonuses, etc).

I am new to game ( but not MMOPGs), and was wondering what the acronym Leves, stands for. I am assuming it is something short for GC quests. If so, are they repeatable?

Leves are not an acronym, but a word. Guild Leves are offered by the Adventurer's Guild in each city, and levemetes at appropriate camps, and reward xp, gil, and items for either battling monsters, gathering items, or crafting. It should be noted they are the fastest way to level gatherers and crafters. Battling is leveled fastest with dungeons, but leves are handy if you cannot get a party.

Grand Company Leves, on the other hand, are only accepted in the field at certain camps from a grand company NPC. The camps are different at first for each GC, but the level 40 and 45 GC leves are all accepted from a single NPC in Whitebrim and Saint Coinach's find. Only battle leves are possible for GC leves. You may accept any GC leve regardless of alliance, but you'll receive a bonus to your rewards for doing leves of your own GC, and will be paid in your own company's seals regardless. However, doing another GC's leves will give progress on their achievements. GC leves differ from Guild leves in that they reward GC seals instead of gil, can only be done solo (not even chocobo assistance) and offer bonuses based on GC allegiance and properly doing objectives (not slaying unnecessary enemies, defeating more than your quota, etc).

Finally, all battle leves share a few features. They draw from a pool of leve allowances, refreshing 6 per day up to 99. Each leve must be initiated, after which you'll have a time limit to perform the objective. All enemies spawned for the quest will be unique to you, other players may not attack them and cannot even see them until engaged. Occasionally treasure chests may appear with loot, and Wanted Enemies may appear in Guild Leves for bonus rewards. The precise objectives vary, and the image on the plate offers a clue, for example an elezen on a chocobo has monsters that will run away for reinforcements. Finally, the levels of the monsters may be boosted by up to +4 to increase rewards.

That should cover battle guildleves, I can get into crafting and gathering leves if you wish.
