    Crafting/Jobs for a noob

Sorry I couldn't post in any of the specific areas as my level isn't high enough..

So I am new to the game. Not even 50 with a class yet. But I know with the new patches and expansion coming it will be imporant that I start.

Anyone know have an tip, insight, or advice for someone just starting out. Which one is good to start with? Stuff like that

For crafting, each class has a specific advantage that you can have earlier if you go to that first. It depends on which one you prefer to have first, I listed their advantage here for you. Hope it helps.

-Carpenter lets you have Byregot's Blessing at level 50, this makes HQing much more easier when used.
-Blacksmith lets you craft alot of tools for various other classes including the blacksmith himself. Also Ingenuity lets you progress a craft significantly faster.
-Armorer doesn't have much use in early levels, but has a skill that's important for endgame crafts.
-Goldsmith lets you create accessories for your many other classes, also learns a good durability/control skill.
-Leatherworker lets you craft some light armor or crafter gears. Also has a nice durability control skill.
-Weaver lets you craft robes and also crafter gears. Has an important skill to take here.
-Alchemist mostly can craft materials that sell well in the market. Also learns good CP recovery skill if you are short of CP always.
-Culinarian lets you cook food that boost various stats including your crafts. Also have important Quality raising skill.

Starting out, don't worry too much about quality until reach a certain level where you are needed to make them. To raise crafter levels faster, look out for Tradecraft leves that you think you can get the materials easily and do them over and over. Yeah it sounds boring but worth doing. Leveling a gatherer along helps to so you can get most raw materials yourself without having to spend too much gil getting them.

You can start anytime you feel like taking a break from your usual routines, you can start unlocking other classes now by talking to the guild receptionist at each city. Also, if you want to have an early advantage in crafting it won't hurt to level most if not all either of the crafters to level 15 as you can access the first cross class skill of that crafter class for the benefit of another.

When you have access to Guildleves already, you can start gaining exp and money quicker by completing them. You can spend some guildleve allowance on battlecraft for your main combat class if you want to level up slightly faster.

Personally I'd say to level them all up equally, switching off every 5 or 10 levels. The way crafting in this game works, there's a lot of interconnectedness. A level 20 weaver will have recipes that require fibers from level 20 plants, gems from level 20 goldsmiths refine from rocks level 20 miners obtain and leather a level 20 leatherworker can tan from level 20 monsters. If you level gatherers and crafters evenly, you can be self-sufficient. And really, being self-sufficient is the main reason to level a craft.

As for how far to get your initial battle class before starting crafting, I just recommend getting up through level 17 in the main storyline, in order to unlock Retainers. Crafting and gathering will involve lots of different materials and ingredients (especially if you're leveling all the crafting classes together, which is generally recommended as Urthdigger explained). It's difficult to get very far with it with only your basic inventory space.

Past that, it's personal preference. Some players like to take their first battle class all the way to endgame before starting any crafting. It's true that that gets you to endgame faster (if that's your goal) because leveling crafting takes a fair amount of your time. But the downside of course is that you can't craft (or repair) any of your own gear for your first class. Personally, I preferred the self-sufficiency of getting into crafting as soon as I had the space available (i.e. retainers) for it.

I would recommend starting with Mining/Botanist before diving into crafting. This will let you gather the items you need for synthesis, saving you money in the long run.

I would also recommend leveling all the crafts to 15 first, then pick the ones with 50 skills you need and get them there before moving onto the next ones. I'm not a fan of leveling all the classes equaly after 15 because you can dump all your leve allocations into one class, getting it to 50 and it's 50 cross-class skill faster.

Blacksmith and Goldsmith are good to level early since they make a lot of gear all your other classes will use. Alchemist and Culinarian have some of the best cross skills, but they are hard to level because you can't make their material with other classes like you can with Blacksmithing and Armorsmithing for example.

I decided that I was going to get my main far enough to get the mount and then start crafting and gathering as it will help going from area to area..
Figured I would start with Mining first for the mats then work blacksmith next or maybe try to work them both at the same time.
Don't know much about the leveling or mechanics yet so we will see.
