    2.5 Main Scenario requirements

I know most players would have this done by now but...

    Quest Required Level and Location
Good Intentions Disciple of War or Magic level 50
    The Rising Stones (X:6 Y:5)
    NPC: Minfilia
Players must first complete the main scenario quest "Let Us Cling Together," and have completed The Bowl of Embers (Hard), The Navel (Hard), and The Howling Eye (Hard).

It a interesting twist in progressing the Main Storyline since these three trials have remained a side content until now.

I guess Square figures they're now face roll enough to where it's pretty much impossible to get stuck on them.

I remember back in the day when garuda HM was fairly challenging and Titan HM was a nightmare and having your relic actually meant something.

I'm surprised it hasn't been a required step for awhile now, considering the other primals are referred to as "hard mode" for the storymode trials.

Well it is mostly due to the increase in ilvl. The higher the ilvl players have the faster the kill.

The faster the kill the less mistakes are made.

its not so much the less mistakes are made, its just easier to carry the ones who do make them (whether intentionally or reasonably)

This, I remember back in the old days if someone died before heart or got knocked off, you don't have the DPS to break it. Or if a few DPS turn up under geared they got killed by tumult or if they survived to heart couldn't do the DPS necessary to pass the DPS check. So yes it's about the ilvl but its more about it being much easier to carry the lower ones now instead of them burdening the party to death.

On topic though i'm not sure what reason they would have them be part of the storyline.

Square's way to push people who are on top of things and ignored relics to do HM primals so they help out those who are doing it for the first time.

For what it's worth, it was more than possible to hit the DPS check for heart at i70 even when down a person or two if the ones alive were good. The problem is that your average player is going to do (and strangely content doing) half the damage of good players. "i pley 4 fun" "its not a job" "dis just a gaem" etc etc

I also did my relic via the DF after our FC raid failed it at like 1%---I tried...it was too cruel to expect a PLD+WHM(with raise weakness) to two-man the last 5% or so of Titan---after the 1% wipe nobody wanted to try it again.

My DF runs felt like half the runs couldn't break the core, the other half can break the core but get wrecked quickly afterwards. Perhaps 15% of the runs were more or less stable but would always have one or two newcomers who keep dying before the core or after the core (sometimes both). When the DPS were great, one of the healers would be dying all the time. When both the healers were great, half the DPS would be dying repeatedly.

I think it was three weeks of DF on and off, then I bumped into an FC farming group, did lolPLDdps and basically got carried to my relic because the group was performing perfection itself.
