    Help choosing an initial class?

Hi everyone! I've not long started playing and after trying out a few classes I'm just about getting to the point where I want to decide which one to start levelling properly for my hyur midlander. I know I can always switch later on (definitely good for someone as indecisive as I am!) but I thought some input from more experienced players couldn't hurt. Hope that's okay. I like the idea of being a support class or healer but the midlander's initial stats don't seem to be optimal for archer or conjurer - does this make a big difference? I was also considering arcanist and thaumaturge. I've quite enjoyed playing each of them so far so is there any reason you guys would pick one of these classes over the other to level first? Thanks in advance!

You can pretty much completely ignore the different race's initial stats because when you hit 50 they really won't make a different at all. Even before 50 they don't have much of an impact. For what class I'd start with I'd say it doesn't really matter just pick whatever class sounds the most fun to you. Although if you level arcanist at level 30 it actually branches into one dps job and one healer job so it's always nice to level two at once I suppose. If I had to pick a class that's easy to get into and nice for starting off I'd probably pick archer because it has nice mobility, decent dps, and can support with songs once it becomes a bard, and it also has very nice aoe abilities.

If you don't plan on running with friends or going out of your way to find a free company you may want to think about a healer or tank to easily find groups for dungeons. Some other dps members posted about having a hard time on the first few dungeons.. that also depends on server too

sorry if this question sounds noob.. how about attribute points?

Attribute points are separate for each class.

Attribute points are separated by class, yes. However Arcanist shares points for both Summoner and Scholar. if you know you want to run a healer, build it mind. You can reset them via Grand Company item bought with 250 seals, you get access to GC around 20 and build seals through fates and doing the dungeon/duty roulette.

as a solo player, you'll very much want to run a tank or healer up first; as the Main Story Quests takes you through 80% of the dungeons til 50. Queue times for leveling dps is usually really long. That said, finding a good/helpful Free Company (guild structured group) can see you get through it pretty quick either way.

It can vary quite a but for DPS depending on time of day and what content you are queuing for. Sometimes it's a few minutes, sometimes 30+. In my experience it's usually around 10-15 minutes on average. Tanks and Healers definitely have shorter queues.

Lothlaurien, if you considered Arcanist, I would say go for it! As LinkCourage (and my personal experience) said at level 30 you will have two jobs available, Scholar being a healer and Summoner being a DPS. All exp gained while playing a job goes to the class behind it and this is the nice thing with Arcanist: it means you will be leveling Scholar and Summoner at the same time. You can play Scholar for dungeons with very fast queue time and Summoner for questing or just DPSing if you feel like it. On top of that you will use the same stuff for both class until very late in the game (level-wise).
