Grinding wheel is made by CRP btw, don't waste money on getting BSM up, then make artisan claw hammer, then grinding wheel that's too much grind.
Just do a 3 star rotation on CRP and pray for decent RNG you should be able to hq it rather easily with maybe a reclaim or two if you run into issues.
Also, why are you trying to get 4 star GSM anyway?
If your goal is to make mastercraft demimateria, there are better ways, and you don't need 4 stars to do it either.
If your goal is to save yourself some money by making your own gear.. Your progression path should be BSM to 3 stars, make 6 off hands, CRP to 3 stars and make off hands for GSM and WVR. Then you can make your own artisan gear (although, I recommend just buying the nq off of MB and melding them to cap. It's a lot cheaper (DOES NOT work for apron though))
there's no reason to get 4 stars on GSM first unless you really want to make your own emperor's throne or something..
It's certainly possible to craft 4 stars with max melds and supra, but that requires your artisan off hand and it needs to be overmelded and the cost of that more or less offsets the benefits.. Why not just get your full artisan left side, maybe except apron. I bought 3 of them nq for about 1 million. Melded them to cap for about 600k each.. So for under 3m I had near full artisan set. You'll still need artisan off hands, but it doesn't need to be melded as aggressively.
Also, to someone suggesting that he go into artisan gear trade, I think it's a little late to jump in the fray. At least on my server, sealant prices aren't dropping anymore, mcD prices are pretty steady short of 2 people competing for a day or two.. But the gear prices are dropping every day. There's not a lot of margin there to be made unless you have BiS gear to pump out hq MOST of the time. You'll be competing with somebody who's been in that market for months and have much better gear than you AND also can sustain a loss since they likely also have a bigger bank roll.. Why would you want to go up against somebody like that in such a slow moving market?
