How do i push towards 4 star?

4* Crafting Stats as follows: 451 Craft, 407 Control Required.

HQ Max-melded Artisan's Gear (or substitute Ixali Smithing Gloves, same Control on them), Supra, and HQ Artisan Off-hand (no melds) sits you at a pretty 447 Craft and 410 Control. That is with +18 craft in a crafted HQ Artisan Body, or roughly 12 points higher than the token body, and each crafted piece also has 4 higher control possible than the +35s from the token items. Token gear is a great way to get yourself set up and pumping out 3* stuff, but it will NOT get you 4* stats. If you go all token gear, you will need a total of +16 craft and +8 control melded into your offhand, and that's an ugly Craft 4/3/3 Control 3/3 melding I don't recommend.

If you can get your Supra, and you have the skill for Lucis get that, cheapest by far. If you want to get stuff set up for multiple classes at once, gather up your materials and get your master 2 books, then meld roughly 9-12 control (or whatever is needed to get you that 407 mark) into your artisan offhand and use chilled popoto soup with the token gear to reach the craftsmanship you need to do the 4* sets to make crafted artisan gear, because melding it will be much safer than trying to max meld an offhand. Make sure you know your rotation, and it shouldn't be too hard since 4* is almost the same as 3* in terms of skill priorities. Hell, I 100%'d the first 3 artisan items I tried this way with minimal need for Tricks of the Trade. But make sure you have the concept down pat.

And @ Gillionaire - Noted on GSM to 4 star. It was just an arbitrary goal to try to be a max crafter. There's nothing in particular I'm after other than gil, and to know I made it to end game crafting. I guess getting anything to 4 star will just be luxury after I grind the marketboard and 3 star stuff with supra/artisan offhand/shared left side gear. At some point I may update my gear to slightly better (maybe just lucis?). And yeah, I think my goal is to make MCD for gil once I get all the items I want in terms of crafting.

Also thanks for the info on the max meld off hand to get to 4 stars. I guess my initial research was wrong :-/ not a huge deal.

You can reach the magic 453 craftsmanship number (lets you finish 4★ progress in as little as 5 steps, 3★ with 4 steps) and 407 control with full melded artisan & Demimateria acessories, supra and an artisan offhand melded with 3cp/3craft/3craft

The artisan mitts can be opted out for the ixali smithing gloves instead, but you are missing out on CP.

If you'r short on craftsmanship, use chilled popoto soup or shark fin to get some extra CP in there as well. Otherwise, try to meld yourself to 407 control (theres no food that gives both control + CP)
