How do i push towards 4 star?

So, I made a hiccup last night. Ended up spending a fortune crafting items for leatherworker masterbook I , then realised i already had it. So spent another fortune on buying demi and makin items for my Supra lol.

So as of now, I'm sitting at 404 crafts, 390 control, 395cp with food. Goldsmith stats just behind this. All other classes are 2 star i think?

Now, without giving up and going to the market board to buy artisans gear, how do i get into making this stuff for myself?

Aims - to be able to make artisans offhands, and ultimately 4 star leatherworker.
Advantages - Patience for crafting grind.
Disadvantages - Not great at making money, so most mats will be self farmed if possible.

I was able to meet the control requirements for 4* by maxing all control melds on your pieces, +6 control on an HQ artisan offhand, and +10 control buff from FC. Would still need food to meet craftsmanship rating.

With all 3 (or two if using ixali smithing gloves) artisan body pieces, you can meet the 407 control requirement with +6 control on your offhand and no FC buff.

got to get that bsm up to 3* so you can make the offhands. they will need melding and there's a few ways they can be melded depending on what you want to do either one will make you a 4* crafter assuming you have fully melded gear.

then you can craft the rest of your tools or more importantly crp and wvr so you can make your new artisans gear, atleast melding those is an easy choice.

of course farming all those sealants daily for the next few months might change your mind on farming your own mats. especially if for some reason it comes out nq.

to get those new books you'll need a lot of field craft 3's and if that is anywhere near 30-40k each on your server you may consider just buying them as desynthing is a chore at times and for 100 desynths (600k) you'd usually end up with somewhere between 15-30, you do get to sell the other mats though and get some gil back.

truth be told though if your not very good at making gil why bother being a 4* crafter cus its expensive to buy the mats for right now and the competition atleast on my server keeps the profit a tad low considering the investment.

although it is nice having your own name on your gear.

Hey chidarake. i understand what you mean about it being a total grind. As for why, well, simply i enjoy crafting

And aye, the fcIII is a pain. I'm happy to start grinding that out though, my cul has the capability to start doing the turn ins for artisans specs. But yeah, that's how i got my supra, bought the FCIII and mastercraft. won't be making that mistake again (400k for 10 FCIII, 740K for 3 mastercraft, now up to 990k lol)

Obviously a bonus would be for me to make my leatherworker offhand and meld that up, reaching 4 star with him. then i could churn out artisans gear to sell and advance other classes.

It's all kinda difficult at this point, as in between it i'm trying to finish novus too. Damn you SE, why so many gil sinks lmao

I am currently aiming to 4* too, have spent lots on melding. I want to do it on my own (craft all your stuff). After some thoughts and wrong decision making. The order to get 4* was to get the Artisan main hand then Supra for blacksmith. Because then I can craft my own offhands for blacksmith, leather, carpenter. In the mean time getting the Supras for these also. Carpenter makes the offhand for weaver and goldsmith. Leather, carpenter and weaver makes the artisan hand, leg, feet. Sealants will be a pain (takes time)..until they nerf the price.

I also desynth my own master demi and fc3s.

Hey nbiscuitz. Yeah, I've started going that way myself now. Got my BSM to 3* and now working on getting his supra (haven't finished melding his offhand yet as i think i'll wait till i make his artisan offhand.

Also catching up with the ixali beastquests. Damn i wish i had stuck to those when they come out lol. But working on getting all my other crafts to at least 3*. Gives me a reasonable goal, and makes me happy i'm seeing progress.

so since patch you have a much easier option at hand.. craft for the new gear from the trade ins. with those and supra you should be 4* capable, but def 3* which will then let you craft all the bis gear anyways.

all you have to do is meld one class high enough to make the turn in item. which is a simple thing to do.

good thing about those pieces is there all cross class and no melds needed, def easiest way to catch up to all the other 4* crafters.

Do you mean that the non meldable items you can trade in for with 2/3 star crafts, + supra = 4 star now?

And i feel your pain at making it so easy though, repeat my irritation at second coil instant nerf..

It's a lot easier to gear 3-star for sure. I found myself having similar thoughts for a bit. I then realized two things:
1. 4-star and BiS still take a daunting amount of resources, especially for the type of people who are rejoicing at the new artisan garb.
2. 3* and 4* still take a lot of skill. That other thread recently where someone was complaining about a 3* with only 700 starting quality reminded me of this. Also, my brother is a crafter who has not been doing high level crafts, but has everything at 50 and recently got the new artisan stuff. Even though I taught him my rotation, he still has trouble making HQ 2* turn-ins for his artisan tools without HQ inputs, whereas I was able to pull them off with all NQ and basically the same stats.

The materials for Lucis tools may be easy enough for anyone to acquire, but skill will be a barrier for many, and let's not forget about the Master 2 books. I think skill is actually going to be the biggest barrier to 4-star for a lot of the new 3* crafters.
