There are a few areas everywhere that could be made into zone lines. I had a list of them at some point, wonder if they'll be used in Heavensward or if they'll end up like the countless dead end caves XI ended up having...

Still, given its location I can see the gate in Central Thanalan right next to Ul'dah and the zone to Southern Flanalan being used. I was expecting the Gold Saucer to be floating based on the screenshots, so I expected Revenant's Toll to be expanding into an airship dock to take us there (again why I expected Rowena to be involved), but since they went for a "true" Gold Saucer by sticking it in the desert I'm not sure. Probably shouldn't be able to walk to it if it's anything like VII...

The first expansion was a toss up between Sky and Sea until the devs settled on a Sky theme, so I would hope we'll get the Sea themed expansion in 4.0. That would be the ideal opportunity for them to introduce underwater content I'd say. A blitzball minigame would be incredible though!

I was under the impression that it was an actual flying saucer. So it could have been around for a while, and just recently decided to land it Thanalan. That would also explain the chocobo races being all over the three city states; the saucer simply landed somewhere.

And even it was recently constructed, I can pretty much imagine the Manderville family building a gigantic extravagant casino and then suddenly landing it near (if not IN) one of the city states. Probably saying they just build a little something to pass the time...

Alice, it's called the 'Gold Saucer' after the casino/themepark of the same name from FFVII - it's yet another reference to a past FF title (from what I understand, Yoshi originally wasn't even going to call it that, but players kept referring to it by that name anyway and eventually he buckled ).

In FFVII incidentally it's actually designed like a giant steel tree, with separate sections positioned on each 'branch'. It seems the FFXIV version is very similar to this. But I guess we'll find out in 2.51.

He doesn't mind us conducting trials so close to his bazaar, so long as he's properly compensated... Yes, Portus, we pay him in sorcery-blasted bird flesh. - Cocobygo

Thinking about VII... I wonder if they built the Gold Saucer on top of the ruins of Sil'Dih..

Maybe Eorzea is just really the Eastern continent from Final Fantasy VII. :P

I mean, we have Costa del Sol there, too. :P

It would be ironic if the Ala Mhigo refugees set up a "slum" city beneath Gold Saucer.

Blitzball? In my FFXIV? I sincerely hope that they're planning something to that effect. I would love to have a taste of Eorzean sports!

I'd like to think Godbert would hire them and pay them well, unlike certain other members of the Syndicate.

Yes I know it is a reference to VII....

Didn't know that one was shaped as a tree though. And I apparently missed the giant cactuar this time round. Still, as this was the first image we saw of it I was very surprised to see it docked somewhere in Thanalan to be honest.

Apparently that was just the top part. Ah well.
