Chocobo Rank Leveling

Chocobo: Beepbeep
Server: Malboro
Date of occurrence: 1/13/15

I maxed out the experience of my chocobo for rank 13. I then proceeded to feed my chocobo a Thavnarian onion and waited an hour till I could take him out. I killed a mob and the chocobo rank went to rank 14 but I did not gain the bonus from 100/100 kills in challenge log. I also am not gaining any experience.

Working as intended, you can't raise the rank cap to 15 until you are 14.

Every time i've done this before it hasn't changed the level of my chocobo until after I stabled it and fed it the onion. I would love to see the hundred other threads if the search actually was useful. I searched for chocobo rank and onion and the results were of no use.

Thanks for your reply. I now understand the system better. This system is incredibly flawed. The confusion could easily be lifted if you didn't get the same message when it was the wrong time to feed the onion as you get for the correct time to feed the onion. I don't think it would be difficult for Square to add a message in the stable once your chocobo maxes xp to go kill something before feeding the onion.

Attempting to feed a Thavnairian onion to a stabled chocobo will display a dialog prompt in the event the chocobo will not increase in rank.
