Collector's Edition needed for PC and PS4? - Items

I just recently bought the collector's edition for my PC but I was playing it on the PS4 as a trial.

I understand that I need to buy a copy for the PS4 if I wanted to play on there too, but does the PS4 copy have to be a collector's edition as well in order to use the items I got from the PC collector's edition?

Any CE you purchase will automatically upgrade the FFXIV service account itself to CE status (2.0 CE status; Heavensward, an upcoming expansion, will have its own standard and CE versions much like the base game does now).

Any versions you buy thereafter simply grant access to play those version-specific platforms; you'll still retain the CE status of the account.

For example, I already had 1.0 CE status since I purchased XIV 1.0's CE in 2011. I have, since then, purchased a PS4 standard version. My account reads that it is still CE status after having used said code in the PS4 version.

I actually just called tech support about this yesterday.

I already had a Collectors copy of 2.0 for PC. I wanted to add a PS4 license. I was told that I absolutely must buy the regular version of the PS4 game. I was informed that if I purchased the collector's again it would actually cause me problems and I wouldn't be able to link the two accounts properly. I purchased the regular and my existing character was available with his CE items.
