Will inactive FC and unsubbed player plots ever be relinquished?

I don't know how bad it is on over servers, but just roaming around the housing wards on Excalibur there are multiple plots that are taken by FCs that are no longer active, and some of the small houses haven't been rearranged since they got a basement, and there is at least 1 plot on Excalibur that is owned by a dead FC but they never got around to putting a house on it.

I really hope not. I paid a lot for my plot and I would hate to have to afk for a few months due to IRL circumstances and lose months and months of earning gil.

I don't know about FCs, but they do lose their houses after being inactive. We've had quite a lot decay and go up to be rebought on Hyperion (which then get bought out again pretty quickly). Both my husband and I just bought newly freed up houses in the past week, a medium and a small. The houses you think are owned by inactive players are either still having people log in (remember FC houses just need one member to step inside) or they're just getting bought before you notice. The medium house next to mine I was sure was an inactive player, looked him up online and he's still in all i90 gear with a completely empty house, but nope see him teleport in front of his house occasionally so they may still be logging in.

Decay was never implemented due to the outcry of single-person FCs taking season-long vacations and such.

By the by, there's a small house across my FC house that was bought after 2.2, sparsely furnished for a couple weeks, and since then has been completely untouched. Kind of a bugger isn't it? what with so many people on Balmung whining about not being able to buy a house. There's a large personal house across from my personal house that is much the same story, just patch 2.38. Decay needs to happen if adding more servers is not sustainable. All they gotta do is empty the plot, hand the owner a voucher for a house of equal or lesser value to what was paid, throw their things on the salvager like they do for kicked FC players, and maybe give more leeway for personal homes.

In a real estate system like we have here it's simply unfair for people that aren't using the land to be permitted to keep it. If someone doesn't log in for ages they should lose the plot and be given a voucher of some kind that would let them re-purchase that or a same sized plot when they return. The amount of time necessary for this to happen should be set quite high... say maybe 90 days or something? If anyone is gone from the game for more than 90 days there are hundreds of other players in the game that would make better use of that plot. The player losing the house wouldn't really lose any gil either, as they'd be able to re-acquire a similar plot later if they ever returned to the game.

I agree, even though I'm on a medium pop server and there are still a decent number of plots available in the newer wards/subdivisions, it's depressing walking around my ward and seeing half of the houses belonging to inactive FCs that are no longer being used. There is even one where in the greeting it says the FC is dead, but they left the house there before quitting. I don't think it should have been 30 days like SE had initially planned, but 60-90 should be sufficient, so long as you're reimbursed for the price of the land/house and all the furniture moved to the salvager. I feel really bad for all the players/FCs on larger servers who want a house and have to walk past all the dead FC housing.

It will not ATM. And I would like to suggest:

For unsubbed players, ofcoz yes.
Ideally just delete these players after 3months, since FC will be auto-dismissed if all members are deleted,
so both the Personal houses and FC houses owned by them will be relinquished.
SE should allow them to restore their characters when they re-sub, but just lost their land with compansation.

For subbed players but have not logged on for months, definitely no.
As it would be the option for considering and resolving ppl who have issues and cannot logon for months.

Don't buy a house in a game you don't plan on playing for months at a time. It's not fair to others when available plots are so limited. I think a 3 month window would be more than reasonable.

I don't mind if they re-implement this as I always revisit my FC home to make sure it doesn't happen, I just want them to implement some way of me being able to sell the land without basically throwing away 4 million gil, as I currently reside in my personal medium sized home instead of the small FC one.

How about just petitioning for server upgrades and more wards for people instead of potentially taking tens of millions of gil away from people due to circumstances they might not be able to control in their life?
If I had to go due to RL situations beyond my control and returned to my house gone (I had literally spent around 4 months saving up for it) I would be so upset.
