the one and only major item I made was for my THM, I wanted a Red Cotton Robe.....a level 16 body armor..... simple no?.........no -.-

now this is utterly ridiculous to make one piece of clothing......... and with the time I had to play when I made it, it took me 3 days........ 3 This game was advertised to cater to the casual player as well right? Well with the new changes in 1.8 - 1.20 that will hold more truth then it has.
All those items????? That's INSANE. I had no idea that some recipes took that many items to make. >.>
To make that list simpler, for those who might just say, "yeah well a lot of those items are repeated." Yes they are, but lets count how many individual items are in this one recipe...

    1. Alumen
    2. Cotton Boll
    3. Cotton Robe Back (Red)
    4. Cotton Robe Front (Red)
    5. Cotton Sleeves (Red)
    6. Cotton Yarn
    7. Distilled Water
    8. Earth Shard
    9. Fire Shard
    10. Formic Acid
    11. Hempen Yarn
    12. Ice Shard
    13. Karakul Skin
    14. Lightning Crystal
    15. Lightning Shard
    16. Linseed Oil
    17 .Mesa-red Cotton Cloth
    18. Mesa-red Cotton Dye
    19. Mesa-red Dyer's Moss
    20. Moko Grass
    21. Mole-brown Dyer's Moss
    22. Mole-brown Hempen Cloth
    23. Mole-brown Hemp Dye
    24. Muddy Water
    25. Sheep Leather
    26. Sheep Leather Strap
    27. Sheep Leather Strap (Taupe)
    28. Squirrel Fur
    29. Squirrel Fur Shoulder Guards
    30. Squirrel Pelt
    31. Taupe Scale Bugs
    32. Taupe Sheep Leather
    33. Taupe Sheep Leather Dye
    34. Walnut Chips
    35. Walnut Log
    36. Water Shard
    37. Wind Shard

37 different items, many multiples of those items, for ONE robe.

Now imagine if you wanted to make 5 of these robes. As gifts for friends. Or perhaps a whole set of similar armor. I don't know about anyone else but I don't have this kinda space, and I have LOTS of space. >.>
I don't want to even think about all the running around to find all of these items. ... For ONE ROBE. JUST ONE. lol (No, I'm not shouting.. it's just that looking at a single recipe in this game blows my mind. XD)

I love crafting. I can't wait for the changes coming in 1.19.

I never get how the people who are most vocal about these things dont actually have any experience (whether thats theortetical or in practice)with what they are talking about.

As it happens ive made some cotton robes as weaver...

Funny story is your list shows things as cotton bolls which can be replaced by yarn, given that their only function the recipe is to make yarn.
Most of the alchemist materials are required in those instances when a) you are to lazy to just buy the item from a npc, b) dont want to find the items the easy way but rather craft it yourself.

I'm sure theres plenty of people here who barely touched weaver but can condense that huge bloated immense list of garbage you posted into perhaps a dozen items, including sup crafts.
I'd do it, but your post is to full of fail for me to want to touch it..

Oh right, but let me give you one extra nail for your coffin.

If you were to make 5 of those robes, it would be a lot faster, given that most of the required materials may take a while to make, but are however produced in multiples. (a single craft of a leather strap would be enough for 12 robes) Given that you just made the majority of those materials in large enough quantities for your 5 robes, youd just have to make the 2-3 components required again, which makes the craft for each further item take about 5 minutes.

    tl;dr
you dont know anything about crafting as your list above shows, and you also failed your basic english summary skills.
Come back when youve improved on these skills and can condense your list into something more in tune with how it really is, ie less modifying it to prove your point.

that is not modified, it was taken right from here.......

If a person was to make the robe and all it's sub parts from scratch, then the list is accurate.

The point is, almost nobody nowadays going to make a robe from scratch. Nobody. The ward is there for a reason, even if it sucks, you can still find it. Otherwise there aren't 100s+ robe of all colour and material putting up on sale in wards. Otherwise there would be nothing up for sale in ward! And what make it worse is that on Gysahl, low level gears like Hempen and Cotton at 10k ea a piece rarely sell! So where is this problem I heard about that lowbies can't find low level gears because they are too complicated to make?

As much as I want to believe that you can just find anything in the wards to make crafts..the reality is, you can't. I've had to go through so much labor to find/gather/make my own materials so many times, just because one or two vital things I needed couldn't be found in any of the wards in all the cities.

For something like squirrel shoulder guards, you'd think you can find that easily right? Nope..I had to make that myself and it requires squirrel fur, which on it's own requires a lot of materials to make, not to mention I had to join leather working to make it *whew*

So my point is, the wards don't help with everything..I'm one of those that's really glad the recipes will be shortened in the next patch.

but you see this is the same type of item that the people oppose to the changes understand. i mentioned the leather shoulder guards on a post above. i am opposed to the overall removal of the parts because of a few stupid items such as these.

things like a r27 hammer should not need a r40 blacksmith to make the head for it. that would be easily remedied by lowering the level to make the item though and not removing every part because of it. reduce the level required to make the head to say r24. that way if you are high enough to make the hammer you can make the part for it.

that shoulder guard could easily be lowered to a strap of some sort which is a common item and you would not need to level leatherworker for. straps of all kinds are readily available even though they are made by another craft because they are common items. those shoulder guards, on the other hand, are not.

i understand changes are needed and never said i am opposed to change, but what i am against is a complete destruction of a system i enjoy when the only reason for it is a few stupid parts in a recipe.

now my honest question is if they removed the stupid parts like the leather shoulder guard and the r20 synths needing one part that requires a r40 to make would you be so against the system as it is now? i love the changes they are making to dyes, but seems as just those 2 other changes to the system along with improving the mini game to make it more fun would go a long way towards fixing the issues in crafting.

Lol I never said I was opposed to the current system either! Just those few things are quite annoying.. I wouldn't mind if they *just* condensed items from let's say shoulder guards, to simple straps. Or reducing some of the ranks required for parts, that'd be fine too. The thing is, I'm not gonna be picky about any major changes coming to this game.

I know that the devs are trying their best to change things to appeal to everyone, and since I want this game to do well, I'm not about to start arguments against their decisions..unless it's something extreme, like turning the game into a bloody FPS or something >.> (i dunno..)

I'm sure there were more reasons to the crafting changes than just "too many parts". But I can understand yours, and other's, disappointment if something you enjoy gets radically changed so suddenly.

Supply and demand, have I spoken of this before? Sadly, people don't need hempen robe/cotton robe. I saw many cotton robe of different colours put in wards for ages and people don't buy. If people don't buy finished item at reasonable price (10-15k a pop), do you think people would buy PART of said item? See where is this going?

Well not long ago I needed cotton robes and such..when I was lower ranks. But did you ever think that some people like the satisfaction of making their own clothes? That's why I joined weaver, to be able to make my own clothes (or at least know that I could if I really wanted to).

Even if I didn't want to wear the stuff I made, selling it was always nice too. People need parts in order to make clothes to sell in the wards. And if they can't buy the parts, then they have to make em themselves, which can lead back to my first comment to you @_@
