Retainers and FC's Not Useful?

So if these are personal retainers I see it only being of use for personal housing. I think what they should do is make a new section in the FC chest a retainer tab and the retainer for the FC would be tied to the chest and not a player and all Gil would go directly into the bank. Now I might be wrong and this is already how they are doing it, so will have to wait and see.

You mean the "store front" retainers? Hm, this could get complicated. Large FC houses can have 3 of these guys in the yard. ONLY 3. So how do you pick which FC members get to sell their stuff in the yard? :/ I like your "pull from the community chest" idea.

to add: PLEASE let personal housing have these retainers too! It would ease some of the "implied favoritism" in picking who can sell their stuff at the FC house. ><

I hope the devs answer this before patch but I really hope that funds that are attained from the retainers go into the fc chest fund... my concerns are we are in a huge fc ... what should be sold and who has access... as i assume things that can be placed for sale can be taken down by others... they really need to add more fc chest tabs as it was before now even more reason to... my owe question is my retainers have 175 storage slots will these as well?? that would be a super hidden bonus!!!

They should have made FC retainers... that's something that was confusing to me as well. Why have only 2 personal retainers on the lawn for a FC? You'd have to have 100% trust in the ppl putting those out that their retainers are for FC use only. Also how many ppl are going to be going from house to house buying from retainers when market boards are right outside the doorsteps already? It's like going in reverse from 1.0's market ward area where you looked at the MB and then found the retainers location then went to it and bought from it.

I don't understand the point of retainers selling stuff on the FC lawn. I mean... subdivision yard sales? smh

All of this. If it's just repurposing a PRIVATE RETAINER to be able to sell items on the lawn, all profits going to the owner of said retainer with no other purpose to this... What's the point? The member gets the money, has control of the retainer and only FC Members get access to the items sold that are also being sold on the MB... It really seems redundant. The one nice thing is you can show off a retainer to other people but other than that...? Nothing new is being added, it's really ultimately just a glamour item. Eye Candy. You're not getting any more storage space or market slots so it's underwhelming.

Having a Retainer for the Free Company, that has more storage for the FC, Free Company member sales as well as Market board sales, all proceeds go to the free company chest, well this would be USEFUL. On top of that you have a Retainer with custom appearance that you can show off. To make the most of it you'd need to add ventures in order to equip the retainer but hey, that would be helpful too, as the retainer can be used to get needed crafting materials, crystals, shards ect and be helpful in various ways and by being an FC entity you are not the only one managing it. There would be a lot of work to be able to properly set the retainer permissions, (instead of just a toggle on or off switch) but hey, this would be WORTH IT.

wholeheartedly agree! Like what if an FC wanted to use a retainer as a 'shop' for that FC? Like put up krakka roots or choco snack food or crafting materials on it to sell to FC members for a huge discount price from the MB prices. Cuz it will be a way to help raise/fund gil for the FC and since ppl are buying it at a discount price the gil is going towards the FC and not into someone else's personal retainer. However with the way SE seems to have it set up it backfires cuz soon as you place your 'shop' up anyone looking at the MB can buy it as well. They are more or less a yard decoration.

This was a post i made a long while back in the housing threads about ideas to incorporate into game

This has been mentioned numerous times but a Free Company retainer.

1) A desk/counter bell that summons the retainer. Retainer has normal storage space and sells 25 items.
2) Master/Assigned ranks have access to retainer settings: "Storage/Deposit" and "Shop".
3) Storage/Deposit setting: Select any current item in the market put it on a Storage List. Members that have items on list can Deposit item to the retainer and it will be added to the retainers stock to sell.
4) Shop settings: Set prices for items and option to sell to FC members or to general public.

Example: You get a retainer, put up potash/coke/choco food/etc. as your Storage item list. Set up Shop to sell items to FC members only at a lower price than the market. Members get mats from dungeons, deposit them to retainer, crafters buy them, other members raising choco's buy what they need, and gil goes to funding FC.
I know a system like this can be abused but would like a positive build on it to make it work
