Carbontwine and coats from hunts? doing this to us again?

Why in the heck would they do it again? Make it so if you want more then 1 carbontwine/coat a week you have to hunt and hunt, and hunt, and hunt some more endlessly. I don't mind hunting but being forced to hunt to upgrade my gear is sickening to me.

Yes you can get them from coil, yes you will be able to get them from world of darkness eventually. But those have weekly caps. Hunts do not.

    End /rant

I just don't understand why they keep tying the best gear in the game to content that becomes broken when too many people try to participate, then lo and behold everyone zergs the hunts down through crappy frame rates, severely reduced draw distance, and horrendous lag.

I don't think there's a problem with Hunts allowing players to get upgrade items without a weekly cap.

I do think that there's a problem with the order that SE has chosen between the various methods to get those upgrade items.

As of now (2.50), the Crystal Tower weekly quest restricts players to only Carboncoats, and presumably in 2.51 and/or 2.55, that restriction will be expanded to Carbontwines and Encrypted Tomestones. Meanwhile, both Twines and Coats are freely available from Hunts.
It seems to me that it would have made much more sense to leave Hunts unchanged in 2.50, and to allow Twines, Coats, and Tomestones to all be rewarded from the Crystal Tower Quest, and then to wait for 2.51 or 2.55 to make those items available to Hunts, rather than the other way around.

It's a very backwards way of doing things to unlock the uncapped, as-many-as-you-can-stomach-in-a-week method first and then to add in the weekly-capped method later.

This yes yes yes! Why give it to hunts so soon? Hunts are a catchup grind, not a starting point.

This has caused me to unsub. I hate to say it but hunts are the worst grinding mechanic I've seen in any mmo. There is nothing less appealing than a mad scramble to the furthest point on the map from where you teleport in, waiting in front of a mob while there's a mad scramble to form parties that are going to be dissolved a minute later. The thing then dies in 10 seconds, and you repeat.

I can't speak to the quality of this game if hunts continue to be such an important mechanic. I'm not speaking from a time investment perspective, I'm speaking from a flat out unfun mechanic perspective. There is nothing appealing about grinding seals because of the design of hunts. As a 50 doing the post game I always grit my teeth and just went along with the shouts while questing because I felt compelled to get my seals for my weapon, even though I hate hunts. Now that its the optimal way of getting Final Coil level gear with no other alternative once you've logged in and done the CT weekly, I'm not going to subject myself to that. I guess I chose the wrong time to resub, and it's a shame because 2.4 was so much fun.

Please let hunts die, or provide alternative methods of non weekly capped rewards. Because they are not fun.

Personally, I'm pretty happy they increased the seals again. They screwed up the novus grind when they removed myth, and in my mind this fixes it. I feel for the reasons you've pointed out, but still, it has it's uses. One mans' trash, anothers treasure.

So much of a better way of describing how I feel about hunts and and having carbontwines/carboncoats.
