I understand the reasoning behind how this would be "toxic" on all scales of the spectrum here. But this game has too many DPS checks and pushing enough DPS to clear these checks requires skill and many players can improve themselves by having numbers to read showing them their progress rather than just blindly following some combo move that they read in a guide. I was following the common black mage combo but it still didn't help me knowing if I had too much downtime or I could have done better elsewhere such as timing of blizzard 3s yata yata. If you have an issue meeting DPS checks no matter how much you bitch at people they won't know it was even their fault without having the ability to measure things and I feel most people would improve upon seeing that they are not performing good enough to beat that content.

Another thing is that I feel toxic people are going to be toxic no matter what tools you give them. Still, DPSing in this game has too many variables in place that I don't think would allow someone to sit with top DPS at all times so these tools COULD be used to judge someone unfairly. I say allow people to read their own DPS in fights without anyone else being able to see it so at least when the leader is like, "DPS is too slow! We shouldn't be pushing 6 meteors" people can look over at their readings and silently acknowledge they are not performing well and know to shapen up.

I would very much like this just so I can gauge how well I am playing my own class.

I don't know if Nintendo scrapped this in Smash Bros. or not, but I would not be against a stat sheet posted after completion of a dungeon or trial. Of course no names would be displayed. Just general DPS, Healing and Tanking stats that would show how much of a team effort was being put forth.

On a side not, why is it toxic to work on yourself and improve your skills when it's needed? The game is asking it for end-game, it's mandatory... So why it would be toxic to work on your dps/skill with the help of a parser in order to clear the hardest contents?
My opinion may be toxic, even though I stayed very polite... I'm sorry but I'm myself not a partisan of the "being a looser is the way to go", when I do mistakes or if something is wrong with my dps then I just work on it for the good of my team.
I never said any of that, I will never drop from a party unless everyone else does, it's the people that drop of their own accord, I don't reject people who haven't won and I carefully work with them. I also never said personal parsers (you only see your own dps so you can improve) are bad as they can't put people down a parser as we have now seeing the entire parties dps and they do cause people to be jerks who will call you out in public (ie party chat) if you lack dps, which is what causes the community to become toxic.

Look at PF when people want one shot only, must have killed 20 times or gtfo and you will see how it can cause problems.

The only way I would approve of this is if people didn't wave their e-dicks about it.

Use that shit for self-improvement, because bragging rights will kill this game's content in a heartbeat.

The developers already have a tool to measure DPS output as part of balancing classes and content. DPS--as a concept, not a class--is something this game is tuned for, and making it invisible to players is a disservice. Tanks can gauge enmity, healers can gauge HP, but what metric do DPS have? All we have some function of mob's HP% versus time spent, which is best illustrated by "how quickly does this mob, which we've fought a few times already, advance into its next phase? there weren't as many balls/void zones/adds/tank busters/beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees/wing wangs this time, so based on that circumstantial evidence DPS has gone up"

    This is imprecise.

The last time I posted anything suggesting a measurement of DPS I got locked out from the forums for a week. Just fair warning.

Im thinking, maybe when they add the Gold Saucer thing, maybe have some sort of Hologram style room(like holodeck in startrek) where you can go in and fight a holographic boss of your choosing with a party so that you can practice mechanics. Or maybe add something likethat that you can build and place in FC house so you and fc mates can practice different fights. would go along way to helping people learn and practice. Cause i can watch all the video i want, read all the forums i want, but to actually fight the fight is different. I watched video for leviathan, was like ok i got this, then i played...OMG....

There needs to be something in place to hold people accountable for their ability to play. I've come across some dps in 4 man dungeons where the warrior is out dpsing the mnk or black mage and all I can think is "Really?"
I'm all for helping people if they need to fine tune their rotations and such, but if you're showing no initiative to really learn the class I'm not going to sit there and spoon feed you as I have my own things to do. I've come across monks who just sit behind the boss and just spam their skills there.

I can understand your frustration Amiantos, but i think the bigger problem is that #1- this MMO is more designed for everyone to be able to play, no matter the skill lvl, age of person, etc. And #2- you have MMO veterans who are playing that have an expectation of how people are supposed to play mmos because of their experience in other MMO's. There are alot of people playing that this is their first time ever playing an MMO. Add to that that this is the only one on a console, which caters to a whole different demographic of players moreso than PC. Consoles are easier to access, easier to buy games for, etc. So i think what needs to happen is that people need to take it easy on what they consider is easy and also consider that many players are new to this type of genre. This is far from being a hardcore MMO and if you just take it lightly, you will enjoy it more.
