Yes third party parsers are against the ToS, but as they don't contact the server or modify data, just read the data stored locally SE cannot track their usage. You won't get banned as long as you don't talk about it, or talk about it out of the game.

For example if you are parsing and discussing the information ingame (party/fc/ls chat etc) and someone decides to report you, yes they can take action against your account because there is server side evidence of you saying you are parsing which, for now, means you are using third party tools. However if you use voice chat to discuss parsing results there is no evidence you have used anything. SE don't accept hearsay as evidence to take action against accounts, just hard evidence.

Personally I am set against DPS parsing on a party scale.
Maybe a personal DPS checker that only shows your DPS could be implemented, this way you can only become competitive with yourself, and choosing to compare scores is a team choice.
I do agree with you on one hand that it is annoying not knowing, but on the other hand this type of feature adds toxicity to the community, a reason they did not plan add it.
Some people love to top dps charts, with little regard to others, such as blms that refuse to move in order to max dps, but put unnecessary pressure on the healer busy trying to avoid the mechanics. (an example, not targeting anyone)

If top dps *Sometimes* people jump on their high Chocobo and proceed to talk down to others, at least in my exp. There is nothing wrong with trying to better your skills at all, but play for fun, not for efficiency. If you find being efficient fun? Thats fine, but remember some dont, and they do not play games to be shouted at or dictated to.

Double think about it, maybe it's needed? A good slap in the face sometime in order to make the player realize that he/she suck at something will force people to work on it, to improve themselves, to no longer be excluded from things.
It could be a serious improvement to our community and also raising the quality rate/level of party finders.

You mean all the PF's that would just turn into "KNOW THE FIGHT, 400 DPS OR YOUR OUT!!!", only to have said PF leader dying on every big mechanic and measurably not pulling their weight? I'll pass.

Hmm im not sure, I think being rude and ignorant to another players feelings would make them hate the community and quit, resulting in a lower player base, thus longer queues.

Just because someone is doing more dps should not result in developing a god complex and the right to tell people they suck.
More than likely people who struggle with dps are working 12 hours a day or have super social lifes/family. That should be respected as much as a good dps.

So it mean that you prefer to actually "enjoy" that sort of experiences over and over? It is very difficult to find a good "farm" party with party finder, it is very rare to be surprised by the quality of your mates when doing something with strangers.
I don't know for you but the wiping/carrying experiences with party finders isn't something I personally enjoy. That's the reason why I no longer join them.
Bad leaders exist everywhere on every servers, total-jerks are well know for being jerks by others and an ingame parser service will not change anything about them.

But a personal parser would be an incredible tool for self improvement, very needed since the game isn't going to teach you anything the hard way when it come to endgame contents during your leveling process.

And this is the mentality that makes the community toxic. It doesn't improve the community it just destroys it. I have seen PFs with this kind of mentality waiting for 3hrs+ because of their demeanor whilst the nicer ones fill up.

Putting people down is not the answer. I have been in more 1/1 learning parties than I have 1/1 farm parties, then the one person putting people down drop, we rep and win. Moral of the story the people being an ass are probably the real third wheel.

I know you said that you are hard on yourself, I am as well. The thing you have to remember is to trust yourself, and unfortunately you can control what other people do, or can't control how other people react. It's content that requires 8/8. You're in it alone. Maybe a grp discussion is in order. DPS meters aren't necessary.

400 DPS isn't required to clear most endgame content, aside from FCoB maybe but rather than having people set ridiculous PF's â la "400 dps or you're out" It's probably going to be used to seed out the people who honestly do not contribute to the group at all, which, sadly, happens all too often in this game.

Totally agree. You often find the biggest ass in the party is the worst skilled player, and covering up insecurities by pushing blame on others.
For example I remember a tank that never used a single CD back when t5 was endgame, and became VERY abusive towards healers when he died on super moves.
