Measurements for DPS contributions (Please SE...)

I used to be completely against DPS measurement tools cuz they could be used as 'harassment'. However I've been doing T9 practice as my black mage (I main white mage) and our DPS is really slow... and I'm like so is it something I'm doing wrong? Is it me? I'm really getting frustrated cuz I'm someone who blames myself any chance I get because I am literally all about self-improvement and being the best I can at something.

I mean I try to look at the battle log but that thing is tedious and still doesn't really help me that much. This game requires a ridiculous amount of DPS checks yet there is no system in place to help a DPS actually determine their own group contributions. I mean sure I can see my fire 3 crit for 2400 damage or a bunch of thundercloud procs / firestarter procs but that doesn't really do much for me in the grand scheme of the fight.

I found that maximizing DPS as a black mage in this game is about timing your 'mobility'. Know when to move and when to just stay in spot because moving around unnecessarily is going to generate DPS downtime and it also seems to matter with little tricks like knowing when Nael is going to divebomb you can have an astral ice 3 on you before it happens so your MP is full when she lands...

I mean I'm just pointing out how much strategy and timing this game has to maximize your DPS yet there's NO way to see your DPS contributions... I often think that DPS players in this game would be a lot more skilled if they could measure their contributions.

I realize there are 3rd party software but I don't get involved in things if there's even a slight possibility that I could get banned for it and I hope people can at least understand why... I have horrible luck >_>
