GSM and new i110 Jewels, wich skill discard in favor of Reclaim?

    So,
as a Goldsmith, we cannot have all the additional skills requested to success in the 4 Star recipie safe, because with the addition of PBP, RS and Reclaim it seems we need:

CZ, SH2, RS, PBP, BB, IG2, ToT, HT, WN, Reclaim, CS2.

I'm thinkng of dropping CS2, using instead a Basic Synth with SH up, hoping the RNG GOD give me at least 2 good to have the CP to do this in the finisher, progressing like this

    CZ - IQ - SH2 - IG2 - PBP - RS - RS - BS .... SH RS BB BS

Any suggestion? I'd like to keep Reclaim since catalyst and BC3 are a little rare / expensive these days.

By IG2 I assume you mean Ingenuity II? It has so little effect at 4-star level that you can probably drop it and save yourself the CP in the process - I do and I think many others do too for 4-star.

Edit: ffxivcrafter.com is a very useful tool if you want to see the effect of dropping Ingenuity II.

Personally I never use Rapid Synthesis as there is too much RNG with Hasty Touch already, that having Rapid Synthesis too just makes it a nightmare for me. It works fine for me. For 445 Difficulty its 2 PbP and 4 CS2 to finish, for 586 Difficulty its 3 PbP and 3 CS2 to finish, for 801 Difficulty its 4 PbP and 3 CS2 to finish if you have 4 star stats. For me at least the progress part is guaranteed and its just the Hasty Touch that presents me with RNG. Each person has their own opinion but this is what works for me.

I tested on FFCraft, if i can get to 460ish craftmanship (and I can full melding on my Artisan Body) I can drop Ingenuity 2 and still mantain the 5 progress step; without the full meld at my current stats i need to put in another progress step (see this ttp://www.ffxivcrafter.com/crafting.php?step=simulator&guid=cbcBS and this http://link.ffxivcrafter.com/?id=cbcCn, I'm assuming to start at 0 quality for these simulations.)

Exactly, i'm at 461 craft and for finish it i use 2x PbP, 1x RS and 2x CSII.

With 453 craft, you can use PbP , RS x2, SH II x 2 without ingenuity II.
Rapid synth has become one of my favourite skills for 3/4 star crafts. It sucks when it fails, but you can deal with it, and for the most part it wont, and you save plenty of CP.

You could probably drop Ingenuity 2.

If you aren't using it for the progress portion of your craft (which I personally don't, since 3 RS + CS2 finishes off a 3-star craft for me, and 4 RS + CS2 finishes a 4-star craft), you're essentially using it for the quality portion. The numbers I'm about to post are 3-star level, assuming you have 413 Control, and are about to use Byregot's Blessing.

    7 IQ stacks:
    -Great Strides = 1224 Quality
    -GS + Ing2 = 1387 Quality
    -GS + Innovation = 1503 Quality
    -All 3 = 1704 Quality

    10 IQ Stacks:
    -Great Strides = 1985 Quality
    -GS + Ing2 = 2250 Quality
    -GS + Inn = 2353 Quality
    -All 3 = 2667 Quality

Basically, you're spending 32 CP to get an increase of 163 to 314 Quality, depending on the number of IQ stacks and all that. DUR steps, however, are 31 CP per at most, assuming you use Master's Mend (which I would shy away from to restore DUR). So you're essentially trading a DUR step for that increase. Kinda.

Is there a calculator or equation to determine how much progress you will get, based on your Craftsmanship and the star level of the recipe?
