I am Greatly excited about the upcoming changes.

Play word games with "simplifying -> dumbing down" all you like this change will only make crafting better for everyone.

it will make crafting better for people with sub 1st grade educations. my son even knows a hammer needs a head and a handle and he's only 6.

This is going to sound sappy, but...

To a certain extent we'll have to trust Yoshi-P to make some bold changes. Things may get scaled back for a time, but only to make a comeback in a whole new direction. I can live with simplifying crafting if the next step is to improve upon it in a whole new way, just like Physical Levels will be scaled back and class-specific attribute adjustments will get added in a later patch.

you know if only people had given tanaka the same respect i'd love to see how far this game would be by now.

I think Tanaka lost people's respect when he crapped on everything he learned creating FFXI and all the good things he could have took from it.
