I don't think anyone here is adverse to changes. From these sudden and drastic measures being taken, what is mainly being said is: Here is what you could have done instead.

    Instead of:
1.) Blasting apart a subtle yet rewarding system.
2.) Making it far easier to now drown out the wards in cheap, meaningless gear.
3.) Downplaying whatever sense of self (Yes that is a little dramatic) full time crafters have. They do still outnumber battle classes.
4.) With how easy it is to craft gear, why do I get the feeling that standard, non +1-3 items will be laughed at, or simply tossed until one finally DOES manage to craft a +3?

Here is how they could have cut down on the preparation of materials without completely cutting out parts entirely, which is what they have pretty much done. Your blind faith in Yoshida that some of you have is beyond ridiculous. You don't stop to ask yourself what could have been done differently, and that's where I find you utterly stupid.
Blind faith isn't going to help anyone here. >_> What will it take to squeeze some empathy out of you? When they class lock us onto 2 battle classes and 1 crafting class only before we need to make a new character?

    Velveteen Chausses (Red)

    Wine-red Velveteen (x2)
    Olive-green Cotton Cloth (x1)
    Mole-brown Hempen Cloth (x1)
    Cotton Yarn (x1)

    Could have become

    Velveteen Chausses (Undyed)
    Undyed Velveteen x2
    Cotton cloth x1
    Hempen cloth x1

    To: Velveteen Chausses (Red)
    Undyed Velveteen Chausses x1
    red dye x1
    olive green dye x1

OH issues already. here let me explain to you how this is less obnoxious.

Dyes are a bitch to sell.
One set of mats = 12 dyes.
    1 dye = 12 bolts of cloth.

Who needs so much cloth?! It would be much easier in the long run for a weaver to create undyed clothing, to at a later time be dyed.
In the long run it makes dyes more profitable and useful.

That's one way, but not the right way.
Anyhow I'd love to see Yoshida's team's notes on all the different ways they would have done this instead of slashing parts all together. I'd love to have listened into that conversation, to me it sounds a little something like this.

"What are we going to do about crafting?"
"Just remove parts, just toss in all the raw mats."
    "Alright, moving on..."

Which is why I'll say the only issue with crafting at the moment would be Culinarian's recipe lists ( too long and difficult without many easily rank-up appropriate foods between ranks.) and the specifically dyed parts. Parts should have been fine, specifically dyed parts however, no thanks.

This just reeks of lazy developing.

my son even knows a hammer needs a head and a handle and he's only 6.
Hopefully he is also aware that one doesn't make a hammer using magic elemental rocks and hitting balls of light. . . .

It's a video game, not a real life simulation. Get over it.

I don't see anything wrong with the recipe, it is good realistic, and differ patient crafters to those other lazy.
The thing is that I wanna point out that they only need to make "Crafter mini game more FUN"
