Something Strange in Mor Dhona?

last night or the other day i seen an unnamed NPC wondering around the square. she would occasionally stop and show a speech bubble asking where some girl could have gone. she would make a stop at two stalls as if questioning their owners. and also during one part of her search she would stop and sniff around.

now i am sure this is not the first time i have seen this NPC. HOWEVER, tonight i have seen a blue carbuncle take her place. it wondered around along the same path, occasionally sniffing around. and then like the next thing i knew it just vanished.


what's is this all about? lol :/

She's looking for her Carbuncle. You'll see it walking around on it's own every once in a while.

The Miqo says "Ru~by, Ru~by! Where has that girl gone?" or something similar. She also has 2 routes: One is around the summoning bells, she talks to the shopkeepers and they shake their heads because they haven't seen Ruby. The 2nd route is outside town, by the gate leading to Coerthas. She walks to the tree, sniffs around, then walks back to her house.

I've seen Ruby on the roof of the tent where you buy those prisms for Glamours, and she likes to hide behind the shop keeper (turnips) in the middle of that square. When the Miqo heads to the Coerthas gate, Ruby spawns behind her near the entrance to Rowena's place. Could be more, but those are the sightings I've seen.

Just because it's genderless doesn't mean people close to theirs won't assign genders to it. Plus the owner is a miqo'te, whose society is matriarchal in nature (remember you couldn't even PLAY males until ARR) so just like we assign masculine pronouns as the non-diminutive gender neutral third person pronoun, miqo'te could do the opposite.

in any case, i wasn't doubting Delta041's response. i just have to wonder if carbuncle's gender has ever been mentioned in other FF games. i have only played console games and not handheld ones. and sadly was never able to get my hands on FF12. so it's not like i have a vast amount of experience in the FF world. i just don't recall a gender being mentioned... ever. it is very curious.
