Customizable titles? As an optional service in Mog station perhaps?

I'm kind of sick of all those cliche titles that are available to choose. 'Stormlady', 'The Heart of the Party', 'Defender of Eorzea'... etc... I'd rather have something like 'The Windows Cleaner', 'One who spills milk'... and such.
If we can have customizable titles, that would be great.
Heck, I would definitely pay if I could have this title under my character's name, 'One who eats cereal with Coke'.

It would be a good idea in theory ... All titles would have to be GM modded before use to make sure that the titles aren't offensive or sexual or anything of that nature.

an idea that would sound good only on appear i am afraid, you would assume people would use it to use like "lord" or "lady" or even one like "hired sword" which would be glorious for rp resons but how long until you get one like "man with the longest dik" or "herm leader" or even "pooped pants" the idea starts becoming very obnoxious and vulgar and thats not assuming people don't try to use political titles or even titles that may offend people by associating them with extremists in the real world, keeping to pre-set tittles eliminates the chance for these ideas, you can see it with names, there was once a "christian truereligon" on ragnarok before his name changed to christian "sky hand" or something to that, not only this but the amount of joke names alone should show as to why this idea, would ultimately fail.

Aside from the posts above... I really feel that titles should be earned, not just paid for and customized, etc.
I'm all for "comic relief" titles that can be rewarded via quests, crafting, battling, etc, but custom ones would definitely get out of hand.

Whenever people get the option to customize emblems or titles, alot of people just revert their age mentality back to 13.

Of course there will be someone abusing it if this was implemented. So how about we regulate it? Every title must first be reviewed before they can appear on-screen.

This is why I don't use titles on my character name, personally. It gets old seeing the same titles everywhere, but I think personalized ones could get out of hand very quickly so I wouldn't mind the option to just turn them off to simplify things.

I actually liked the way it was done in XI where your current/preferred title showed up under your profile when examined and your ls was color coded by your char name. I think they tried something like that in 1.0 with FC crests, was disappointed that they'd scrapped it. Yeah, I'm a bit of a minimalist...

Though I like the concept, I do suspect there would be some rather harsh restrictions implemented on creation of custom titles otherwise it would get rather silly.

I also can understand about seeing the same handful of titles repeated over everyone's head. It's one of the main reasons I recently turned off player names/titles as it gets frustrating to see a sea of names everywhere.

On the bright side, there are still some few titles that are rarely used though unsure if they're maybe 1.0 titles. I've only ever met a handful of people who have the same "Princess for a day" title above their heads as I do.
