Pre-mades actually DO have a sort of challenge option already, going in with a non-traditional party composition. Try no tank, all tanks, all melee, bot-mode-all-THM, etc for some fun.
Trust me. I was already fully aware of that. (^_~ )

Unfortunately, that’s already a reality. We don’t need the “Slot Machine” for that. (^_^; )

There is always a chance that you get paired up with a “jerk” who might kick you due to a minor “inconvenience”, but there are plenty of others who would see the fun in it. It’s almost like you can’t have a little light hearted fun without “being afraid” that there is someone out there who will be out to ruin your fun at the first sight of trouble or “inconvenience”. /cry (T_T )

One of the reasons why you don’t want to make it a “mandatory system” to begin with, but also to keep the rewards relatively small and the challenges fun.

Heck, you can even think of it as the Arena from the FF7 Golden Saucer. (^_^ ) Give people an option to enter a random dungeon through the Gold Saucer and use the “Slot Machine”-system then. They can also give Manderville Gold Saucer Coins as a reward, instead of Gil or Tomes.

It doesn’t even have to be a full dungeon, but maybe just a small part of it. Once you complete the challenge you can get the option to give it another go with a different challenge, handicap and reward.
