    Lightbulb Dungeons modifiers and challenges

In my humble opinion, one of the painful things when leveling up a second (third, forth, etc) class is running the old and same dungeons.

I don't know if it a feasible idea, but I would like to see three things in dungeons (specially in low level dungeons) for more variety:

    a) Difficult modifiers: At the beginning of dungeon (or during the "commence check") players can vote in options to increase the difficulty (strong enemies, permanent damage/healing debuff to all players, etc). Each modifier also increase the rewards (more XP and gil from monsters, better loot chests, etc)

    b) Special rewards: At the end of dungeon players can earn special rewards (XP, gil, tomes, items) depending of their performance: speed run, 100% mapping, no deaths, 100% monster kill, etc.

    c) Random optional challenges (like mini-battlecraft levequests): protect an item or NPC against waves of monsters, kill a stronger version of an normal monster, defeat "x" enemies in "y" time, etc.

I think it would actually be fun if we get like a “Slot machine” at the beginning of the dungeon where you would it give you 1 challenge, 1 handicap and 1 bonus reward. Something like: “No deaths” as the Challenge combined with “Curse (half HP & MP)” as the Handicap and “+50 Tomes” as the (additional) bonus.

They could even make it so that every party member would get a different set of Challenges, and Handicaps, but the Bonus would only be given when everyone’s challenge has been completed. That way players would be more inclined to talk to each other to verify which challenges and/or handicaps they would have.

I know what you mean, but
    a) would only put more stress on the healer and won't change the experience of the dungeon for the rest of the group except that it takes longer to complete.
    b) optional goals in the dungeons would be nice to have, but leave speed run out of it or things will get ugly if someone is not able/doesn't want to do it.
    c) sounds interesting. I would prefer some optional bosses.

I would love to have some sort of Hunt inside the dungeon *like an extra boss*, something approriate to the level of the dungeon and that give bonuses like seals, exp, gil etc. At the start of the dungeon if someone has a hunt poster for that dungeon it shows up in the screen like the tome bonus.

Small random side objetives could be cool in there as well, something like the levequests, but inside the dungeon and getting good rewards, and all of that being optional, but being strongly recommended with the good rewards.

annnd someone with a more 'inconveniencing' challenge would be more likely to get vote kicked. Perhaps make it so only pre-mades get the challenge option?

Pre-mades actually DO have a sort of challenge option already, going in with a non-traditional party composition. Try no tank, all tanks, all melee, bot-mode-all-THM, etc for some fun.

eta: I would LOVE to have hunts in dungeons or extra fun stuff to do that we don't have now. Don't get me wrong. XD

I've leveled every class to 50 (I'm working on both tanks atm, both at lv 40ish)....

while leveling up every class, the dungeons might be always the same, but your playstile change completely. every time you do a dungeon, with different class/different roles, it's different every time. you get the chance to learn how to play your new job/class, you see the dungeon with a completely different perspective...

I'm more bored of running the same dungeon every time with the same class (hello, Quarn Normal, I'm looking at you), but then again, you still have to adapt every run you do, to the other party members. it's not always the same "spam spells on mobs while you look at your tumblr".
Light farming Garuda HM/Ifrit HM is waaaaay worse than this xD

Trust me. I was already fully aware of that. (^_~ )

Unfortunately, that’s already a reality. We don’t need the “Slot Machine” for that. (^_^; )

There is always a chance that you get paired up with a “jerk” who might kick you due to a minor “inconvenience”, but there are plenty of others who would see the fun in it. It’s almost like you can’t have a little light hearted fun without “being afraid” that there is someone out there who will be out to ruin your fun at the first sight of trouble or “inconvenience”. /cry (T_T )

One of the reasons why you don’t want to make it a “mandatory system” to begin with, but also to keep the rewards relatively small and the challenges fun.

Heck, you can even think of it as the Arena from the FF7 Golden Saucer. (^_^ ) Give people an option to enter a random dungeon through the Gold Saucer and use the “Slot Machine”-system then. They can also give Manderville Gold Saucer Coins as a reward, instead of Gil or Tomes.

It doesn’t even have to be a full dungeon, but maybe just a small part of it. Once you complete the challenge you can get the option to give it another go with a different challenge, handicap and reward.
