    Ok I do totally agree crafting and the resources needed was excessive..
    Your going seriously to farm imo, the number of stages your removing is massive.

    Abolishment of Parts from Synthesis - Very Bad
    Revisions to Materials and Intermediary Materials - Good
    Removal of Secondary Skill Requirements - Helpful
    Removal of Crafting Facility and Treatise Requirements - Good in a way
    Simplified Color Customization - Best Part!

    The dye change alone would have been almost enough imo.
    This would have cut down the number of items possible my a huge amount (what like a 10-15% cut in the total items?)
    1 of each item + generic dyes
    Vs
    Dye for each material + variations on item


    But really removal of parts?
    That's not simplifying the crafting system, its turning it on its head, and making it just a thing you do as well like every other mmo.
    As much as I'm not even a fan of crafting, the system had its merits, I always figured would make parts, leave the final thing to other people.
    Now i'll just do it to repair my stuff. woo....

    Why not just make more use of the current components as you add new gear,
    Have those old low Level items or the low demand items as a part of the newer gear that will come in.
    (a R50 spear head + 3 R5 spear sharts + R20 Butt + Glue + bolts = sparkly new heavy lance)

    I am actually in favor of this change, I dont think it simplifies too much however we have to remember that the materia crafting is coming in soon and things would most likely get way too complicated on top of the current system.

    The way I read this was streamlining the current system to make core items easier to sell.

    Overkill IMO, players who like to craft solely, also like it a bit complicated then just Iron + Iron = Excalibur!

    I never thought it was complicated in the slightest,
    The only times id get meh about it was when i needed a R30 BSM item for a R5 Carp tool.
    Or if I needed a dye'd version of some leather.

    I still think the main issue with it is not having a good in game crafter's book/menu.

    As for Yoshi nORbDragon
    Most the stuff were getting is great, and i love his attiude, I think he was a great asset to the game.
    But when it comes to changing some of the old systems, I feel like he thinks were 5yo and its all to complex or something.
    Few of the problems were ever the depth of the content, that was the redeeming point.
    The problem was the way we had to use those features being badly implemented.

    It's complicated because you need to make part, like real life. You don't put two iron ingots together and an Excalibur is made. It's the sole reason why I like to craft in this game, whereas I largely ignore them in other games.

    I’m appalled and mortified about the removal of parts.
    Our crafting system was very realistic in needing all the different specific parts for a certain piece of gear. I’ve said it myself too that its a pain to gather them all up to make one piece of gear. But its fun for the meticulous. With this change the class is being dulled down way too much. Lessening the difficulty lessens the achievement. I fear as though this will severely hurt the entertaining feeling of being a crafter. Thinking about all those materials that will become obsolete. I feel as if crafting will become less of a favorable choice among players. I liked the fact that this game had 3 separate aspects of game play; Crafting, Gathering and Fighting. They all should be equally as entertaining so everyone can enjoy themselves no matter what they choose to do. Crafting may still have everything i fear that will be lost. But, it seems like how the OP said, it will just turn into another thing to do instead of a lifestyle. I enjoy the idea of "Crafting is for the crafters", its not for everyone. Taking away the complexity of a system only hurts the dedicated loyal activists.

    Im against the removal of parts.

    I am a big fan of the crafting system as it is, although the level requirement for some parts and materials needed to be revised.

    I am not sure all these changes were really needed but before evaluating them I think we need to see how the materia system will work and how they merge together.
