future Main Scenario Questline development - More like Hildebrand

I made this post in a differen thread, and thought it deserved it's own thread to get community feedback.

The Hildebrand questline seems to be reatly preferred over the current main scenario. Perhaps you can develop more, artistic styling to he future main scenario, similar to hildebrand inspector exroadinaire.

Also, Voice acting. there has been more and more of it, but to compare, when I play FFXIII I don't need to read the main scenario. Why would we in FFXIV?

And lastly, at least for the English version, I would also strongly encourage you to reevaluate Eorzean english grammar.

Eorzean: Anyroads, we must has needs of such evaluation measures!
English: anyway, we reall need you to look into this.
Improved Eorzean: Anyroad, we must perform such an evaluation!
    or perhaps
Anyroad, we need to perform such an evaluation!

The must needs makes my brain melt every time I read/hear it. A friend of mine keeps telling me the purpose is to go back to old English stylized writting, but seldomly do I see "Thou art of great Stride, Warrior of Light. I beseech thee, conquer the Ascians at all costs. Thine Countrymen must needs be awarded retribution."

While this is not something that the current Scions would say, the purpose was to illustrate continuity in the version of the english language. I encourage using more modern english (at least instead of must needs) as it will be much easier to read as opposed to going shakespearian.

I'm not a major lore buff but I understand where you are coming from. The "Eorzean English" used needs to be mixed with a slightly modern feel in order to allow us, readers, an "easier" read while maintaining the "immersion" the grammar provides.

If whatever you're shooting doesn't die after you pump 8, 32 caliber, slugs into it, it's probably a dragon.

They do need to revisit how saturated they have made the language with some of these terms. Many of them aren't even being used correctly, and I cringe every time I talk to a "pirate" class npc. I know what they are trying to convey - these are all different people from vastly different lands - but wow, they need someone who can actually speak our language look over it before release. It's too hard to read and borders on obnoxious.

I want to strangle Alphinaud every time he says it, which seems to be more and more with each patch....

Couple that with the absolutely awful voice actress who plays Alisaie, I wouldn't care if I ever heard either of those twins say another word ever again.

As for OP: Hildibrand quest is liked so much because it is genuinely funny and light-hearted, I don't think it would work for the main scenario. I like the dark feel to the story, and wouldn't want to be happy/giggling whilst (see what I did there?) doing it. There's a time for comedy, and a time for serious imo.

English language isn't my native language but I think I am doing pretty well, but the pirates are just too much for me. Every time I speak to a pirate I understand maybe.. 10% of the text? But I guess that is intended. If I were a roleplayer I would probably be glad for this kind of difference in language.

To the topic: I don't mind mainstoryline to be more serious but I would love more Hildy or funny quests in future.

One thing that Hildebrand has that all other cutscenes don't, aside from the emphasis on comedy, is an absolute brevity of custom animations and facial expressions. If that kind of effort could be expended to make the Main Scenario cutscenes more unique without mucking with their intended tone, it would definitely improve their quality.

This is what I was referring to. Also, there are other things, such as how the camera pans etc. Not only is the theme different, but the cinematogrophy is actually extremely different. Hopefull I'm actually using the correct terms. I'm not in journalism/media/filmogrophy/cinematography etc etc.

Also, he must needs isn't just Alhinaud & Alisae. minfilla says it all of he time, as does Urianger. If I was to say that any one particular voice actor is the worst, it's he miq'ote. now, I think that is mostl the voice doesn't seem to suit the look of he character. Maybe that is my own problem. I just now that that one particular voice sets me off.

to name the best, sincerely, Eda and her Taru companion whose name is'nt coming to mind at the moment lol.

Every time the 'ye olde eorzean' comes out of Minfilia and Urianger's mouth I cringe. The dialogue in the MSQ feels really wooden. Given the way the voice actors have been directed, I'm actually kinda happy that the Hildibrand quests don't have voice acting. I'm sorta suspicious that the bulk of the problem isn't the voice actors themselves, but the script and direction.

The problem is that they use some (old) British regional dialects and coming from Britain it takes me a while to understand them. I do fell the same way when I see a 'pirate dialect'; it gets tedious after some time.

+1 to modernizing the English a bit, especially anyone in the Limsa region. I find myself frustrated trying to understand what they're saying sometimes and, thus, it leads to me not caring and skipping through dialogue, because I just want them to shut up so I can move on at that point.
