There's a reason it's called the localization team and not the translation team. And there is also a reason things aren't translated directly all the time. In the world of professional translation/localization, what you're asking for simply doesn't exist. The most direct translations are usually also the most awkward.

I'm an English major and I've read multiple translations of the same thing. They are all different, yet all the same. Like it or not, with any translation, you get the translator's version of the story, not the original writer's. For that, you'd have to learn the language the story was translated from.
