I may be wrong so take this with a grain of salt but I'm quite sure it was said somewhere that we cam gain cards if we win but won't lose cards if we lose. I'm 90% sure this was said.

Whatever happens I hope they do not put cards on the cash shop. That would definitely be pay to win...

They said they weren't doing that thanks to some kind of gambling blah blah.
Second, they also said "winning cards from other players" isn't going to happen. fanfest translations If i recall.
Well it kind of makes sense that you shouldn't lose cards to other players since A) you know there'd be massive drama over it and B) it'd be far too easy for friends and FCs to rig games with each other so that everyone can get the best cards.
I also hope there's an option to auto-decline card duels from other players (or regulate card battles in the Gold Saucer) cause I sure as hell don't need spam from bored people wanting to fight me over cards,

This could be handled in a similar way to the Sightseeing Log (i.e you don't see the entry until you've actually unlocked it by "seeing/experiencing" it, only with TT, you have a counter that lets you know how many of that card you have.I want a win/trade cards mechanic, but I definitely want a log of some sort to show what cards you've had in your collection already, even if you've lost them...and some sort of achievement for collecting x unique cards, maybe with a mini-Setzer minion or something. If there's no log, some people will be afraid to USE their good cards, just in case they lose them, and that's just no fun for anyone.

Please yes. I have no intention to play Triple Triad, but I may do the quest to unlock if one exists because quest bubbles on my map irritate me. I hated not having auto-deny duels in WoW.

Way back when I used to play, there was an addon for that. It was hilarious, I'd keep getting these dudes running up trying to duel, and the little flagpole would appear already floating up and fading out. More than a few would spam it and start bitching at me for not fighting them. The same addon also had the handy features of auto-cancelling trades, guild invites, pt invites, and so on.
More on topic: Screw the Random rule. I went out of my way every time I played through VIII to stamp that rule out and get it un-learned by all the NPCs. That said, we will need some kind of draw mechanic for this so people don't just slap out their A/A/A/A scorched earth cards every time.
I'm really interested to see how they go about this in PvP settings. In FF8, if I recall correctly, some cards were rather difficult to win from certain NPCs, but it was ok since you could just reload your last save (nobody would actually retry while letting the NPC take some of their best cards). Of course, many cards could only be obtained once, so losing one of those would be devastating and preventable. In an MMO setting and with other players I wonder if there will be such amazingly strong cards at all, and if so will collecting them be akin to acquiring EX primal crafting mats, etc? I'd imagine most strong cards will be 'unique' to prevent things getting too ridiculous, but there's room for a lot of powerful cards anyway. I also wonder what it will all amount to...
In FF8 you could eventually deconstruct (or something) cards into usable items/ materials, with unique cards often providing the only source for a particular item. That was, essentially, the entire point. What will it be here? I can hardly imagine SE making it such that desynthing cards grants you raid equipment, lol. There must be some motivation to playing Triple Triad, right? Or do you think it will just be for the fun of it..?

You need to beat this guy first if you want to be the king of cards
