They save this type of writing for the Hildibrand quests because I'm fairly certain I haven't seen anyone even come close to claiming that they knew all along that Ellie was transpiring with 'the man with the thousand faces'.....which also turned out to be a woman![]()

Hopefully they'll make a twist and Ilbert is actually NOT a traitor and that it was somebody else. If not, perhaps he's working with the Ul'dan monetarists since they will have alot more to lose now that the Crystal Braves are up and running.
But I agree he has been TOO helpful and has had too much screentime compared to any newly introduced characters. It'll be a shame if another right hand advisor will turn traitor.

I have to wonder what the Garleans were doing in the Agrius, since they erected a research station, they were clearly doing more than just salvaging.
If the lake is indeed a seal for the primals then the Garleans have a lot of reasons to go there, basically the garleans walk in the footsteps of the Allagan, Magiteck, primal sealing, world domination.

«Oswold: The elementals are the eternal guardians of the Twelveswood. Since time immemorial, they have watched over the forest and all life within, ensuring that the balance of nature is preserved.
Oswold: By an ancient covenant, man was permitted to reside in the Twelveswood. Thus was the nation of Gridania born, some five centuries ago.»
That's one more covenant, one more guardian(s).
He doesn't mind us conducting trials so close to his bazaar, so long as he's properly compensated... Yes, Portus, we pay him in sorcery-blasted bird flesh. - Cocobygo

I also got the suspicious Ilberd vibe. Also for some reason, I thought Nabriales looked like one of the new Crystal Braves people you personally recruited. I thought it was the dude that was involved in bad shindigs at Buscarron's Druthers during the early main quest (I forgot his name, but those sideburns looked familiar) but I've been suspecting a whole bunch of Crystal Braves people to be traitors even before the 2.5 trailer came out. I got my eye on all of them.
The brave you are thinking of is Larentus (I think that's the spelling?). I actually thought at first he was gonna turn out to be Nabriales (or as I affectionately call him Sideburnicus) but the hair colors don't match. (Larry has brown hair and Sideburnicus had dirty blonde).

I don't know if its completely within the 2.5 thread but apart from my question about the 1.0 and 2.0 maps. But is there any reason to believe that all that snow and ice around Ishgard may be artificial (shiva?) and that them dragons are using the blocked off areas as a staging ground for their assault on Ishgard. I'm assuming this because the only thing that access what little part of the old Western highlands is Snow Cloak. Then there's Stone Vigil Hm, it suggests the dragons are easily trying to retake and maintain control of it. Much like Steel Vigil with that fate and the route north of Dragonhead. Apart from the thought that the syndicate thugs are in hiding in the ranks in the rising stones. Would it be a stretch to assume the pope in Ishgard (if aligned with Ascians) might also try to eliminate the scions from within or implicate them in a conspiracy, with the immigrants in Mor Dhona as leverage?

If I recall correctly, several Ishgardian NPCs comment on the unnaturalness of the constant snows, so your theory is plausible. The Shiva questline also showed us how extensively the heretics are using both tunnels underground and through the ice to move around undetected, so obviously it's been helping them stay hidden and hindering the Ishgardians attempts to fight them.
