One thing I would like to know is how old are teh Ascians? From where are their origins? Prior to the fall of Allag or tied to it? Were they the Allag equivalent of the Warrior of light that where corrupted by the backlash from the Crystal Tower when it went super Nova? Were they tied into trying to stop Xande or are they, in some way, the cause of it?

How far back does the Ascians manipulation extend? How long have they maneuvering events to reach a point where they can openly appear in furtherance of their grand scheme?

Also the Echo, hearing languages in English, seeing things in the past. Echo is a TARDIS buff! :P

The impression I get is that they far predate the Allag. They seem to recall the time of "balance" when Zodiark, if not Hydaelyn as well, was present. I'm assuming they originally existed along side the gods in Eorzea (before the 1st Umbral) and developed their power of the echo, individually or collectively, as such to allow them to transcend death when the time came.

However, they could have been Allagan forebears.

I wouldn't be surprised if the cause of every Umbral era could be traced to an Ascian.

At the very least they openly take credit for as much a few times in the game's dialogue.

Moving away a bit from Midgardsormr and the Ascians, is anyone suspicious of Ilberd? It could just be me but reading between the lines, I think him and Yuyuhasa are both traitors for the Crystal Braves.

Ilberd is certainly fishy, what with the black marketeer stuff and everything.

Ilberd has been fishy even before all of this happened--I was looking back in some of the quest logs the other day from 2.4 and I found this:

If we're to judge by his expression, Ilberd seems to have something else in mind before he converses with Raubahn...So they may have been giving us hints before this debacle with the secret shipments even started, through some of these quest pictures... and the title of the quest doesn't help in terms of foreshadowing, either. I think if Ilberd's after anything by being a traitor, it may be Raubahn's life or something like that, but hopefully not something so severe...maybe he's just jealous of Raubahn since both of them grew up together so he's trying to get back at him through the empire.

I think it's pretty obvious he's on the take; not only was the death of weapons dealer suspicious, the entire handling of the affair is shady. (Differing reports?) I don't think he's in league with the Empire, though, I think he's working for Teledji Adeled. I mean what better way to acquire your own personal army? Let someone set up and then buy everyone off.

Spec and Foreshadowing - My Opinion

First - I think Ilberd is a true Brave, who is acting like a double agent. I think he knows what is going down in Ul'Dah and is keeping things going in order to allow the Braves and the Scions to be there to do two things: Catch Teledji Adeled in the act of finally getting the throne he has been having wet dreams about (think he is the long lost Heir of the lost Throne we had the riddle quest about personally), and also be there to whoop the crap out of the Brass Blades when they go in for the kill on the Sultanate.

As for the spec on the Sultanate: She is poisoned (a goblet, and her face in it, duh) however, it will Teledji who is killed, and the blow will come from Ilberd! I also believe that it is the Dorans or those at Lost Hope who come to the aid and saving of the Queeen. She then dissolves the Monarchy and Syndicate and the people tell her to keep her crown so she remains as the Queen, but in turn, a parliament is founded in lieu of the Syndicate, and the Monetarists are sent to fight for their life’s in the Blood Sands, and we the warrior of light to get beat the crap out of them…and hopefully we are the ones who get to kill Teledji. That would be awesome!

I believe that Ilberd knows more than most and knows who the mysterious arrow was fired by and all of that to know that Teledji has hired a contract killer (my money is our former flame now known garlean spy, and I will also put good money on her not being in prison) who has been helping in the getting the Omega Weapon released. I also believe that the battle was held at Carteneau because Gias expected Bahaumat to blast the surface and release Omega Weapon and both of them would have then went to town on Erozea while trying to destroy each other. This would also have helped the Ascians come a hell of a lot closer to summoning Zodiark. To much – who really knows?

Second - New Scion Scholar Moenbryda isn't dead and she isn't an Ascian either. Based on what I have learned from spoilers related to BCOB (still trying to get past C1 T5, those damned snakes!), I believe we will see her again, maybe even as Alexander...maybe I have said to much.

I think the Ascians predate all life less Zodiark and Hydenlian. I think they were always in the void, and I think they corrupted Zodiark so to create their path to the world of the living. Hydelian has been choosing Warriors of Light to defend her and the realm from the Ascians.

I think the Ascians are behind all the Eras. Great Kingdoms toppled by them working form behind the shadows in order to get to where we are today which is when they are close to recalling Zodiark in order to remain. Zodiark, per the Ascian storyline is the only one who can destroy Hydelian.

DIVERGENT THOUGHT: Anyone ever wondered if the Ascians are more like Sho Kan and his armies from the Mortal Combat series in that they live in “Outworld” and are always trying to conquer other worlds? Ascians are from the Void, which exists between the living and the astral plain…..Maybe a bit to out there….who knows…ok, done with it.

I think Midgardosmor is as old as they are, and what is good for us is that the Ascians have totally ignored him, to their downfall (eventually.) I believe that Iceheart (Shiva) is Midgardosmor's human or elvan wife and the new race is their line of children. I also think that Ishgard, which has been infiltrated by the Ascians, started the war at the Ascians helpful direction.

I also agree with other posts in here about Midgardosmor being the next step of the Echo. We do not hear her because we need to grow more, and we will do so under his watch. However, I also think that he has joined with us in order to also gain firsthand knowledge of the war and to see the Ascian betrayal of the Ishgardians first hand. Through this, he will call and end the war when he has proof that it wasn't the Ishgardians who betrayed the Dragons. After all, it says they co-existed for quite some time before the war.

To those who are showing off shots of Hydenlan in Ascian drag, I personally think your reading to much into that. I agree that they are involved, and I believe that they have been pushing the primals (hard, extreme) in order to further weaken her. I say this because I think that she functions not just as a catalyst of the aether flows but also is strengthened by the flows of aether. Due to this, they need her encased in their magic to cut off the aether from her. This is what I think happened at the end of 2.0. I however, believe that we also dealt with her in different ways. Minfilia could hear her because that doesn’t take much effort from Hyd to communicate. Iceheart, I do believe communed with her after the fact as Min did since it doesn’t take much. However, look at what we faught: BCOB, CT, Extreme Primals, and Savage Coil!!!!! She didn’t talk to us because she was too busy protecting us while we got prepared for the Heavensward!

Three – The New jobs – I believe the following:

The Astrologist – Everything they say and I expect we will be getting to their lands (home base of this class) somewhere around patch 3.2 if not sooner. After all, they have been saying that water exploration (boat owning, finally) will be coming shortly after the 3.0 expansion, so I would expect that we will see the homeland. After all, the Scions have a vested interest in the school that is now lost, and I would expect that we will be traveling there. I also expect that 3.0 will hold this place in a way equal to Mor Dhona and the Highlands in 2.0. One map zone only till 4.0 expansion.

The Machinist – I personally think this Job is Garlean Tech in Eorzean drag, and Cid will be the primary check in for it. The ammo looks to come from a tome (Scholar is my best bet on this one) based on the vids we have so far, and the mech adder….really. The job strikes me as a Mor Dhona based Job that has Cid/The Ironworks as the point of expansion and is paying big props to the Steampunk view of tech. I personally don’t see this as being anything more than a new Job being based straight out of Mor Dhona to also provide expansion of the Mor Dhona Landscape as the 3.0 progresses (I expect Mor Dhona to grow with zones as we get closer to 4.0) and a way to bridge the gap in Cids own way between the Garleans Gun Based Weapons (everyone has either a Gunblade, Gun Knifes, Gunfists, just look at the big 4’s weapons, and Nero has that GunHammer/Axe thing!!!)

The Dark Night – Clouded in mystery right now and for good reason. We will find out about this one in 4.0. After all, the 2.0 started with a Paladin, Warrior, Bard, Black Mage, and White Mage. The Dragoons, Monks, Summoners, and Scholars where not covered in the vids but at the same time, only the Summoners, Scholars, and Monks have really had their stories bear fruit with knowing what is to come. Personally haven’t gotten my dragoon to lvl 50, but when the main story gives up nothing on the 1,000 year war between Ishgard and the Dragon Horde, and the Dragoons are known for their historic skills in it…and now the Warrior from 2.0 gives up his Axe and steps out as a Dragoon…come on. And he is also totally alone…COME ON!!!

DIVERGENT THOUGHTS: With the breakup of the Original Warriors of Light, I take from this the following:
1 They had a parting of the ways in order to singularly progress their skills and obtain greater skill sets with what is coming. I also expect they have been doing more fighting with the Ascians then what we know to this point.

2 I expect that 4.0 will be our 2.0 Paladin Warrior of Light traveling abroad and trading his shield for the Dark Knight garb.

3 With the Astrologist Job, I expect that we will see the White Mage trade up during the 3.0 expansion and go forth, but the path will be clouded till we get there.

4 I expect that the Black Mage and the Bard will show up in a mild fashion in 4.0 opening trailer equal to the white mage during 3.0.

5 I base all of this on the fact that it seems that we are following the original Warriors of Light, but at the same time, dealing with the aftermath of their initial walk before us within the Realm.

6 I have a feeling that the Garleans will be taking a major backseat during 3.0 series of the game, possibly even the 4.0 series of the game. I expect the Dragon/Ishgard war will fill all, and the Ascians will become even more minor during 3.0 compared to their role in 2.0.

7 I expect that with the jobs being offered, the Scions are going to moving in a horizontal role and leaving us to keep them apprised of what is happening in Ishgard while they (Scions) and we work to deal with what happened to the University and also to work on the Blade of Light. Don’t see us actually getting the blade of light till end of the 3.0 series and when the Dark Knight will have more meaning. Yes, I think the Dark Knight and its job directly relates to the Blade of Light.

8 Weird thought, for all who have cleared CT, maybe Nero is the one who is the master of the Machinist Job…..?

Okay People, tear into me on it!!!!!

    Enjoy and Comment!!!!!!!

I've been suspicious of him ever since I saw him, he is not good, he is an enemy.
