Thread: The 2.5 (Part 1 & 2) speculation thread

I'm going to wait until after 2.5 to flesh out some of the bigger ideas, but the Ascians always spoke of you as the Warrior of Light or Hydaelyn's champion, whereas Elidibus mentions needing to nurture the "strength of the gifted," as in other Echo uses. I can't entirely let go of the feeling that while we're sitting here acting like Iceheart is enlightened, she may have been a pawn, herself. Before Shiva returned, Lahabrea did say that they needed to "lead men to the field" to give rise to a new deity. There may be plenty of dark secrets to reveal on the Dravanian front, but it doesn't mean Iceheart isn't basically furthering the Ascian cause by accident. Until I know for sure which way that goes, I hesitate to speculate on the things it would impact. I mean, it could get pretty crazy depending on which way that pendulum swings.

A rather nutty example of how weird things could get - the designs on the front of the Ascian robes look like dragon heads in a that cloud looks like a rabbit kind of way, and they worship a tailed, winged god associated with the Serpentarius constellation. For all we know the Ascians are dragons, too. Rather, immortal spirits of them.

So, if Midgardsormr sired seven children... Fafnir, Nidhogg, Tiamat, Ouryu, Vrtra, Bahamut, Shinryu?

Also, do we think there's a mommy (Wyrm Queen) in the picture, or did he(it) lay all those fertilized eggs himself? If the former, perhaps she's Jormungand(r/i) since they're the same entity in myth... Or could it be a variation of Kur, the "first dragon"? There are a TON of possibilities here.


Another interesting tidbit; it's said that Omega is typically a weapon meant for Shinryu, but in XIV: ARR, it's purpose was to destroy Bahamut.

What if, much like Ultima Weapon, Omega weapon isn't really an Allagan creation? Lahabrea claimed even the Allag didn't scratch the surface of Ultima Weapons core (he Heart of Sabik?), what if the same is true of Omega? Given it is said to be more poweful than Ultima that much should be certain really... At its core, Omega predates Allag and its original purpose was not to subdue just Bahamut, but all of Midgardsormrs children?

I find it unlikely Shinryu is Midgardsormrs child though, given his typical power. Much more likely if (when) Shinryu makes an appearance it will be similar to his XI appearance where he was effectively a chimera of Bahamut, Promathia and Selh'teus (if memory serves). I could see Zodiark and Bahamut doing the Fusion Dance to get back at us.
