Seriously people, stop saying pick Ul'dah as your starting city. Especially if someone isn't interested in rolling there and it's not that hard to spend a little time to walk your way over to that area. The only difference for rolling Ul'dah is the storyline, otherwise you can get there easily enough and set your homepoint and then go about your business.

Ive rolled in every city so far and i have to say as nice as it is to have all the people in Ul'dah i enjoyed the story in Gridania (for as far as i made it anyway =P) than i have in Ul'dah

Well, since the majority of the community is in the area, it is the optimal area to start in for the purpose of checking the community. If you had looked just a bit further into the post, I mentioned recreating the character in the city of your choice after finding a good server.

and how would i go about doing that? just google FFXIV north american link shell?

For this i found it a lot easier to either go to the World forum here in the lodestone or go to the eorzeapedia site ( http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/ ) and just check out the forums there in the world forums section and that would be the best bet. It helped me find a LS within just a couple hours of checking the forums and logging on

i went ahead and re-rolled in Besaid. went with a female character this time.. much more pleasant on the eyes in my opinion =) now lvl 1 rank 1 THM again.. /sigh
