I believe the reason the devs asked if they should continue or use that team to develop something ells is because the story arc is coming to a close. This means they have the choice of bringing a new side story with new characters in or keep Hildi and his story.

This is generally how Japanese TV shows work, too. they'll run for a season and tell a single overarching story (or a couple depending on how long their season is) and then get renewed under a slightly different name if a second season is warranted/asked for

I love Hildebrand. I look forward to it on each patch. Don't get rid of it.

Savage Second Coil failed. It had no real reward, so no one ran it. Sure, some really hardcore (and very bored) statics ran it...but once cleared, that was it.

That was the point. It was never intended to be ran by a lot of people or often. It was entirely intended as an optional challenge. Those who wanted to do it did. Mission Accomplished.

Not only do I find Hildebrand to be a waste of development time, but I think the inclusion of classic FF references in such a poorly written, poorly thought out event is a bastardization of the characters many of us hold dear. That isn't even to scrape the surface of Hildebrand's father entering the storyline and having SE force the homonormative privileges of today's tumblr generation upon the FFXIV community.

I just wish they would put half the amount of effort they put into the Hildibrand questline into the Main Scenario. I feel gypped every patch cycle because the MS has so much potential but the dialogue, cutscenes and writing are just so boring compared to the Hildibrand saga.

Don't get me wrong, though. I love Hildy.
