I'm sure this has been asked many many times before but I need help.....

Ok, I've done a lot of searching around and have found many answers to this, some contradicting each other So I will ask it here and hope I get a clear answer.

Here is the situation:
I play FFXIV on the PS4, my wife will be starting soon, on the PC. There are some days when I wish I could play on the PC (as to not hog the television in the living room) an I know you have to buy a separate licence for PC. We plan to pay $30 for the pc licence and tie the key to her account.

Here is my question:
Will I have to purchase a third copy of the game for me to play on PC as well (as stated above, the PC key will be tied to her account) and if so, will I have to have 2 PC versions installed on the same machine? Or is this all much more simple, and I can just use my credentials on the login screen and play on the PC through her copy. (also I believe as they are on the same Wireless router, the PC and PS4 should be on the same IP address.)

Unless they changed it recently you will have to get a third key to tie into your account (similarly if she decides she wants to play on PS4, you'd have to get a fourth copy)

However, you don't have to have two seperate installations on the same PC.

All you need, if you want your personal account to be playable on any PC with FFXIV:ARR installed, not your wife's, is a copy of a new unused product key to input into your FFXIV account. So yes, you need two copies of the PC edition, one for your wife's account and the other for your account if you want your account to have PC access.

When my husband wanted to grind dungeons for the newest relic line for me when I was at work, we needed to buy a PC copy since I was on the PS4.
He also owned the PC copy cause that's where he plays.
We bought it on Steam though so we had to get the license (for me) and my steam account involved.

So yeah, two PC copies...and if you're on Steam, two different steam accounts as well.
I wish this game was more like FFXI where you buy it once and you can play it anywhere.

Thanks for you fast replies! Then it is solved, I shall purchase 3 copies of the game ( may be a fourth, though I don't foresee her playing on the PS4)
