Do I really need relic weapon for the maint story line!?

Opinions on relics are very divided. We have this conversation in my FC often. Half thinks they are a waste of time, the other half (myself included) loves getting relics. It's really your own personal choice since there are equivalents out there if you are able to get into higher lvl content. However, unlike the dropped weapons, relics become customizable at a certain stage and you can choose where to put your secondary stats which allows you to better maximize your dps. Both options have pros and cons.

Be warned, it is a grind fest though. Not so bad since they eased up on atma but still grindy. For myself I find it nothing compared to getting relics/empy/mythics in xi and enjoy it for the most part. Let your own play style be the factor that lets you decide whether or not to make them, because like I said, ppl are very divided on the subject and are very adamant for the most part about the side they take. The nice thing about smn being your first, is when you do get to the atma and alexandrite parts, any fate and any alexandrite map can be easily solo'd by even a lower ilvl smn if you know how to utilize your abilities.
